I think you really should take the SAT I b/c ACT is a little low not too low to count you out, perhaps if you have a particular disdain for the SAT take the ACT again your EC's are a little weak not for the fact that your not involved in things its just you dont have any particular hooks or extrodinay accomplishments however your GPA and rank are good. You have got to be an excellent writer for the essay portion of your application at U of Chicago and if you aren't you've really got to make up ground elsewhere

University of Southern California 65%
UCLA 75%
UC-Berkeley 40%
Northwestern University (in Chicago) 33%
University of Chicago 25%
Washington University of St Louis 33%
Washington University (Seattle) 90%
University of Michigan-Ann Arbor 65%
NYU 50%

Thanks, anyone else?

ACT of 30 is ~ to a 1980 on the SAT. You have a 4.0 it makes up, even if you are OOS. Work on the ACT get it up like 2 more points and everything increases more.

University of Southern California Match
UCLA Match
UC-Berkeley Slight Match
Northwestern University (in Chicago) slight match
University of Chicago Match
Washington University of St Louis not sure
Washington University (Seattle) not sure
University of Michigan-Ann Arbor slight match/match
NYU almost a safety -_- but i'll say a strong match
Boston University high match

Thanks, I'm assuming that it doesn't matter if I don't take the SAT because all of the colleges I listed claim that they don't prefer the SAT over the ACT. Anyone have any other chances/suggestions?

My opinion is that the above posters are overstating your chances for UC-B and UCLA. From our out-of-state school, NOBODY has gotten in there, even with SAT/ACT much higher than yours. Your score is average or below for WUSTL.

What? I'm not sure I understand.

My point is that admission to UCLA and UC-B from out of state is very difficult, perhaps more so than the above chancers realize.

Collegeboard reports the middle 50% range for WUSTL to be 30-33, so you're at the bottom of that range.
