I am getting a job this summer and I will finally do volunteer work this summer.

1) Don't forget SAT II's! take some in june if u haven't done that already. I had a low score in my first SAT and I studied really hard all summer and raised it in the fall. U should do that too!
2) Apply early if NYU's your top choice. I got in early this year and I still believe that this type of application got me in.
3) And btw, with your APs next year, start studying in September. I didn't and I had 7 AP classes and now that i took some of the APs, i did really badly in a few of them.
4) Volunteer at a hospital since you're going for biology. or is it pre-med? either way, volunteer.
5) Start with your app early; as early as June. Don't forget to mention why you're special; why u love NYU so much; what your plans for the future are; how are u gonna use all resources that NYU offers; how you're contributing to the campus; how you're adding diversity (being an immigrant, i guess helps. i'm an immigrant too) etc. Write good essays!! Don't forget to mention all awards you've gotten. Don't be modest; you're trying to sell yourself.
6) Don't slack off! --> this comes from personal experience!

Not necessarily. I actually believe that early admission is slightly more competitive than regular admission. For example, the admission office did not predict this year's regular applicant pool to drop 5%.
