(I like chances threads! It gives us a chance to see someone's detailed stats and compare. Even though you have to understand- there are no official admissions counselors here who chance you- we are just parents, students, or other nobodies who have nothing better to do!)

Your UNweighted GPA, 9th-11th plus first semester senior year is what is important. We have learned here on these boards that high schools calculate weighted GPA differently so in order to have a good understanding of your GPA, it's best to quote both your unweighted and weighted GPA.

From what has been reported on these boards- if you took most all of the honors/AP classes your high school had to offer, received at least an unweighted 3.7, and at least a 2100 GPA, and had other strong extras like yours (i.e. SAT II's, AP exams, good ec's) you should be ok as long as you have some good essays that show your interests and passions. Of course, nothing is for sure so keep up the good work- no more C's! Work on your essays over the summer and be sure to get some good opinions about them. They are very important.

Do a search for recent USC Official Decisions, and Rejects Corner to compare your stats to others on these boards.

PS---- I DIDNT DO SO WELL MY FRESHMEN YEAR (ABOUT A 2.9-3.0 WEIGHTED!!!)

UW (unweighted) GPA means no classes are weighted- it's just your letter grade based on a 4.0 scale. USC only looks at UW GPA in conjuction with the classes you took. UC GPA is a weighted GPA.

yes, i understand that. but...for example, UC's only calculate A-G courses in your weighted/uw gpa.

i.e. - i took 2 years of athletic P.E. for my sports freshman and sophomore year, and got A's both years. a UC would not calculate that class in their gpa, because it is not an A-G course.

my question then, would USC count that as a "real" class and would i count it in my GPA?

Ahh- sorry- I misunderstood. I have tried to research this and everything I've found seems to say that USC uses a similar system as UC's in that only unweighted grades in A-G courses are counted in your GPA. (i.e. PE, Health, and some other classes do not count in the GPA.) However, we have not been able to confirm this with USC. I have asked admissions directly and they will not give a direct answer.

Anyone else have any inside knowledge about this (not just speculated)?
