I applied to the UW just before the January deadline (around the 12th), so I know it'll be a while before I hear back...and I'm sort of going crazy here. Each day my confidence is waning more and more, and I just wanted to have some sort of feedback, since all of you seem very well-informed and intelligent people :)
OK, here are my stats:
3.29 cumulative gpa UW (with consistent honors classes, grade trends progressing from a 2.8 freshman year to a 3.67 in my junior year. very strong curriculum content...i.e. no "fluff" classes.) I know it seems low, but that is mostly because I've always found math and science extra difficult, my other classes have A's. I have also taken 5 years of French (Im in French 5 AP now).
1260 SAT (690 V, 570 math)
-I also think I have an amazing essay...I worked extremely hard on it, and all feedback I got was very positive.
-I am Irish, and played the cultural diversity card heavily in my personal statement. I have basically split my life and education between the two countries (and sent in my foreign transcripts along with excellent letters of recommendation from my teachers there). From what I've heard, the UW really likes diversity, and again I went into great detail on that.

I know you all are incredibly gifted and probably think I have no chance, but I just wanted to try. The UW has been my first choice ever since I moved to Seattle, and I am extremely motivated.
Any feedback would be helpful...do you think I stand a single chance? I guess for now all I can do is hope.

I'd say that you have a decent chance. If that essay is as good as you said it'll save your GPA and you probably will get in. The honors and AP will also help and the 1260 is pretty strong for UW. The only reason you would get rejected is because of your GPA but again...if that essay is that "one" they will let you through. Also don't expect to hear until late March...because most pple are in the application pool now.

As in percentage wise...I'll give you 59% (about the same for me)

what are your stats, seven, if you dont mind me asking?
59% seems pretty low, kinda makes me nervous...the admissions counselor that i talked to at day with a dawg (her name was asefah faraz, if that rings a bell) said i had about a 60-70% chance, because of my SAT...my gpa was on the second bar, but my sat was on the highest one on the far right. Also, my gpa is borderline on the 3.30-3.50 graph, in which about 70% were admitted.
Also, i forgot to mention EC's...I have a lot. I've played tennis since 8th grade, im vice president of our student democrats club (im also doing a major culminating project this year on political issues, which includes a lot of politically related volunteer work), im heavily involved in environmental causes (belonging to the environmental club, and also having done a major environmental project in my school in ireland last year), im in french club, im very involved in theater and musical activities (i was in Les Miserables last year with a major role), and i have about 150 hours of community service since 9th grade.
What do you guys think?

Just for comparison: my d is at 3.55 (uw) and 1240. Won't go in to the other stuff because everyone has strong ECs and great essays. I have said I think by d's are brilliant. 3.2 and 1260 gives you a about a 54 AI. My d still hasn't heard with a 64 AI. My information is this: The UW is now doing comprehensive reviews and no one will be notified until ALL the remaining applications have gone through CR. Looks like March or April.

I'll be praying for all you guys to get in. By the way, am I the only parent covering their kids back side? I told my d to look the other way and not think about it, and I would monitor the situation. Whatever will happen will happen, but I don't want her obsessing about it; that's my job!

So during this comprehensive review period, they wait to admit applicants until they have reviewed ALL the applications? Wow, this will take a while. Geez... If I would have had a 3.7 instead of a 3.651 I would have been in by now. That B- in spanish 102 killed me!

Knowing what I know now I would have advised my daughter differently on her 4 years of high school. I just hope they REALLY do look at difficulty of classes and reputation of high school. And I hope they REALLY do read the essays and so on. Also there was really no point in applying before January 15 unless a person had a 3.7 and 1220; 70 AI. There will be some who maybe could have taken the SAT one more time. In my view; the UW needs to be more to be more open about how they will proceed. When we attended the application sessions the reps always talked about how important it was to get the app. in before Christmas. Why? Unless a person would be an auto admit there would be no point.

mmboys, about the December 1st deadline (you said Jan 15), yeah you are right. some friends I know applied like January 14th, last day before the regular deadline, and those who had 70AI or above heard back in like 2 weeks, while a few of my friends who have below 70AI and applied for Dec 1st deadline, are still waiting.

Exactly. Even though my d put together a strong app. if she (I) had known that there was really no reason to apply until the Jan. 15 deadline, I might have strongly suggested to my d to take the December SAT to try to boost her 1240 to 1300 +. Who knows??? Maybe some kids would have improved their essays. Well at least she didn't have to think about it during Christmas. I just have some ethical concerns about the process.

I wouldnt say that sending your application the last second vs sending it a month before doesnt matter...all of these things are seen be the officers and it'll affect them.
mmboys i really wouldnt be concerned...with those stats I really can't see your d being rejected and I've never been wrong about admission to the UW =P. If they didnt let pple with 65 AI in who had a strong application like ur d then they would be like one of the top 20 univ in the nation...since they are barely in the top 50 they will let her in for SURE...unless she wrote "i hate the uw" on her essay

In fact; she loves the UW and it is her dream school. I think she took all the proper steps to let them know UW is her #1 priority + they are strong in the one unique area of study she is interested in. But my comments are not just in defense of my d. Every CR applicant is affected. I just think the UW needs to be more open about how they go about things instead of playing a poker hand.

First of all...im on the very cusp of a 3.3, so i wouldnt just call it a 3.2. it's a 3.29...the two look very different, at least i think so. Secondly, I'd like that think that course content/rigor DOES make a difference. And what about the international thing...bringing diversity?? (which according to the admissions counselors I've spoken to, the UW really likes). I have grade trends that have gone up every year, from a 2.8 to a 3.67 junior year.
Also, I've shown a lot of passion and involvement in my activities, AND i have great letters of recommendation from my Irish teachers.
I am passionate about journalism, and went into great detail on it in my personal statement. I also got a really good SAT verbal score (700, which shows that English is my strength, which will serve me well in my major).
The reason that my GPA isnt higher is mainly because of math and science...they are my C/B- subjects if you will. I've always found them exceptionally hard. But I've stuck with them, and taken beyond the requirements.
I have an exceptionally challenging senior year schedule: AP English, AP government, AP French, honors precalculus, Physics.

What do you guys think? I'm hoping that due to my other attributes, the UW could look beyond the fact that I'm not one of their typical automatic admits, and would appreciate the diversity. I know I shouldnt expect anything, but I'm just going to be heartbroken if I dont get in, even though Ive already gotten into WWU and WSU. The UW is my dream school. I've got my fingers crossed for all of us. I dont care how long it takes (even if i do go crazy in the meantime), just as long as I get in.

God only knows that I really don't wanna be negative but I gtta tell u that having B/Cs in math and science doesnt make things any better. Math & science are the most two important subjects which colleges looks at carefully (unless you put like English as ur major). I wish you all the best luck.

I've put communications/journalism as my major actually, and wrote about it in my personal statement. I definitely dont intend to major in anything mathematical/scientific. Still, I know that they are important. It makes me nervous.
