Chances?

<p>Ok so i know this is annoying but i would really like to know what you guys think. I'll be applying to Vassar in the fall this year and I'm hoping I can get in.</p>

<p>Academic
-ranked 4/204 at South Dakota's top public school
-most rigorous course load possible, nearly all Honors/AP (all 5's)
-unweighted GPA: 3.98
-weighted GPA: 4.3
-ACT: 31 (retaking it and hoping for a 32)
-SAT Subject Tests: Math II: 740, Physics: 690</p>

<p>Others
-Class President 9th, 10th, 11th grades
-Student Body Vice President 12th grade
-County Representative (one of five students that represent all of the students in the county and work with the board of education)
-officer of community service club
-started the tradtion of having an annual charity dance
-varsity tennis (won first team all conference)
-NHS
-Spanish Honor Society Officer
-Cross Country
-Volunteer at a hospital
****oh yeah . . . and I'm gay . . . that helps at Vassar right?</p>

<p>I'd say you've got an excellent chance at getting in. Your location, your ACT score, your GPA, your class rank, and your nice cross section of ECs are all positives for you. Best of luck in your application process!</p>

<p>Statistically, you fit in the typical Vassar applicant pool. Your ECs, however, feel showy...They are all good and admirable, but they don't really say anything personal about you and your passions.</p>

<p>Being from South Dakota, a rather obscure state, helps.</p>

<p>And, though I'm completely tolerant of homosexuality, I don't think your being gay will necessarily aid you in the admissions process.</p>

<p>So, in general, make sure you can show some kind of personal passion through your ECs and be sure to write a good essay! ^_^</p>
