Chances?!?!

<p>I think I am going to apply RD. I was just wondering if I stand a chance of getting in. I know Stanford is a reach, but I'd still like to try.</p>

<p>National Merit Commended Student (i got 211, but didn't get notifcation from my principal yet. so i don't know what's happening).</p>

water polo and swimming, most inspirational swimmer, scholar athlete, jv mvp and team captain, 2 time varsity lettered swimmer</p>

<p>ExtraCurriculars....
Youth Committe of the City of Westminster... 5 years, Co-Secratary, Co-Chairperson... 250+ hours of community service, volunteering at city-wide events and creating youth positive events (ex. holiday gatherings, pewee sports coach, being the easter bunny at a festival...)</p>

<p>Anti-Tobacco Youth Coalition affiliated with Orange County Health Department...4 years, Board Member, Alternate Chairperson... 90+ hours doing projects like making beaches and outdoor malls smoke-free.</p>

<p>"Giving Thanks to Books"... co-founded this annual bookdrive in the city of Westminster to give books to underpriveleged (esp bilingual) children and organizations like Boys and Girls Club. Over 5000 books to date.</p>

<p>Academic Decathlon... Captain for 2 years... last year won 1st place speech, 2nd music, 3rd math, 3rd science, 4th superquiz, 5th art, 7th team overall in Division I of Orange County.</p>

<p>California's Golden Boys State Delegate... Majority Leader of the Assembly, Oratorical Contest Winner</p>

<p>Various school clubs and positions, awards, etc.</p>

<p>You have a great chance. Don't worry about the 690 too much. Your other scores definitely make up for it. Good EC's too! Good luck!</p>

<p>well, it's too late, but i think you could have gotten in EA too. Anyways, I think you have great chances RD. You seem stronger in math and science than writing/english. If you're not a native speaker then bring up that fact. It'll make up for your lowest scores (verbal and writing)</p>

<p>thanks a lot. maybe i like stanford because i am californian. harvard, yale, princeton seem like too hardcore (although stanford is hardcore too... haha). i might apply. yeah, i "test" better in math and sciences, but i enjoy english. strange huh. i love debates and giving speeches, and i dread doing labs. is anyone else doing an online application?</p>
