Please note that I am not an admissions counselor, but I am giving you the best advice I believe is accurate.

Sorry to say, but 2.7 is not a strong GPA for Fordham admits. With over 22,000 applicants, they are becoming very selective as they try to achieve the 2016 strategic plan of becoming the #1 Catholic Univeristy in the nation. I know many local students, who believed Fordham was their safety school, that were RJ'd this year. It came as quite a shock to them. I'm assuming you have quite a few C's & that is not a good thing for a FU admit. Also, while FU likes students with the most rigorous course load, they also want students who are very successful in these classes. It's not just a matter of taking them, it's a matter of succeeding in them. Chances there are not very good, but you never know. You may have a better chance at Pace, but I'm not sure what they look for. If you want a NY school, I'd suggest Iona College is New Rochelle. It is not Fordham caliber, but you would probably have no problem getting in there with a 2.7. They have a good business program & I know lots of successful people in NY that have graduated from Iona. Good luck.

the median scores are as follows:
SAT 1170-1260 w/o writing or 1800-2100 w/ writing
ACT 28-30
GPA A- (>90 on a 100 scale or 3.7 on a 4.0 scale)/upward trend is a positive.

the scores above are NOT cutoff points.

molten lava -- srry this is just a question not an answer to your chances

i was wondering .. what Islamic organizations did you work for online?

To better help you, my dd is going to be applying to colleges this fall. Her school uses the Naviance system which lists last year's applicant's GPA's, SAT scores & whether or not they were accepted. This is a local NY school so these students applications will be different from yours. It looks like the lowest admit from this school was approx. a 3.2 or 3.3 with approx. 1180 SAT (math/reading)(points are plotted on a graph & it is hard to tell the exact scores.) Other schools most likely could have lower stats. I also see some wait lists with a slightly higher GPA & slightly lower SAT, a RJ with a 3.5 & approx, 1080 SAT & one WL with a 3.5 & 1150. Of course, there's no way to know the EC's, essay content & recommendations - & these are local students who can commute.

Though that does help a lot, it seems to me that Fordham is looking for an all around student, with a decent GPA, most porbably in benefit to the school, considering that I am hoping to get around those SAT's scores I will apply with many EC's, way too many to list. But I appreciate the information you have provided me with, thank you very much. BTW in NY schools, an honors class is given +.5 points to the overall gpa, while were I am there is nothing given,EVEN an AP class is only given +.5. So I that is why I am curious to know if I can get accepted. PLUS THE FINANCES WILL BE INTERESTING, :)

Your best bet is to go out and buy a large compendium of colleges, like Barron's, which lists 3000 colleges and universities in the United States, and examine the stats at each school, their courses, and see where you fit in the picture. Compile a list of 10-15 schools. Visit as many as you can THIS SUMMER, talk to admissions counselors and get a feel from them. Then when you return to high school in september go immediately to your guidance office and make an appointment with your counselor and see what they think. Get your list down to 6-8 schools. 2 reach, 2 match, 2,3 or 4 safety schools. Pick one early admission. Apply to all the other's regular decision. Apply as soon as you can get the applications completed. The longer a college has your application in hand, the more they can learn about you and ponder your situation. Applying last minute is a bad move whatever you do.

As for Fordham, I would visit campus this summer, talk to admissions and see what they say. Then make sure....as in double sure...your grades as a senior are all A's. That means burning the midnight oil. If you get senior slack you will be rejected by most schools.

Good luck.

And know that there is a great school out there for you somewhere, so do your homework this summer and do the research.

I really appreciate the responce that you have given me friedokra, and I will most definitely take that into account of this summer. Thanks.
