well i was wondering what my chances are getting into some schools i have on my lists. i get letters from them and stuff but i dont know if that guarantees my entree.

i wanna major in journalism or broadcasting, and then i wanna major in film to become either a journalist, director, dj for radio, or screen writer.

i made a 1710 on the SAT (is that good?) plan on retaking in Oct.

i've been in the top 10 of my class every year (Senior this year)
currently ranked 5/200something
i have a 3.9 gpa unweighted dont know the weighted one
i've taken every ap & honors class given, and the lowest grade was an 85 in AP World History, but that was jst one qarter it averaged to be an A

but i plan on attending these niversities so what are my chances

UGA(University of Georgia) its in my home state
USC(SOuthern Cal)
NYU
Columbia University
think these are the major ones i was wondering abot

you definitely need to increase your SAT scores if you're thinking about USC, NYU and especially Columbia. Also up the extracurriculars over summer if you can =)

i knew about usc, so im not really worried cause its near the bottom of my list

You can get into UGA. And if you raise your test scores a little bit, you could definitely increase your chances at NYU.

My turn! hehe

Well, I'm gonna be a junior in August. I so far have a very crappy SAT score. I have ~1550. I am the top 5 in all of my classes. Freshmen and sophomore year, I had a 4.0 GPA, weighted it should be ~4.17. I have 5 clubs that I am in and I am an officer in one of them.

What do you think my chances are to get a 2000 my the 2008 March test date? What should I do?

Also what are my chances getting into:
University of Southern California
University of California- Berkeley
University of Michigan- Ann Arbor
New York University
Farfetch: University of Pennsylvania

Extracurricular activities sophomore year: (All I am planning to continue till graduation)

Community Service:

Columbia-up SAT 300-400 points

flh91 should stop hijacking people's threads.

UGA(University of Georgia) its in my home state- likely
USC(SOuthern Cal)- reach
NYU- reach
Columbia University- big reach

I would agree with the general consensus. Retake the SAT and see you how did or take the ACT. Make sure you show some leadership. Good luck!
