chances

<p>Hi, I'm an Asian male living in Kansas. I came to the states when I was in 8th grade, but I am a citizen here. I don't know if the fact that I only lived here for four years would help me. </p>

<p>GPA: 3.97 WGPA: 4.13
(A's in AP classes are considered as 4.5 here.)
Rank: 41/417
I got a B+ in food class back in 9th grade and it brought my rank down a lot.
I go to a pretty competitive public school. </p>

<p>AP:Have taken 4 AP classes so far and planning on taking 4 more on my senior year.</p>

<p>SAT IIs: 800,800,780
ACT:30 ( I'm not sure if I should retake it or not)</p>

<p>ECs:
National Honor Society(11,12)
Science Olympiad(10-12)
Math team (treasurer, next year President)(9-12)
Student Council(Student body Treasurer)(10-12)
Scholars' Bowl (11-12)
JV Football(9,10) (stopped playing due to a concussion)
150+ volunteer hours at a local hospital(9-12)
100+ volunteer hours as an altar server at my church

Doing some research at University of Kansas on Protein structures( planning on entering intel)
Tutoring an elementary school kid as a job</p>

<p>Honors/ Awards :

Scholars' Bowl competition state 3rd place
President's Honor roll
GPML Math competition state 2nd place
Student of the year award</p>

<p>Summer programs: Duke TIP med-sci, KSHSAA student council camp.</p>

<p>And I'm planning on applying to
Stanford ( MY DREAM SCHOOL !)
u of Chicago (legacy)(EA)
Brown
Duke
Columbia
NYU
JHU
Rice
Washington University in St. Louis
University of Kansas
University of Michigan-Ann Arbor
University of Wisconsin-Madison</p>

<p>wow a 3.97 put you out of the top 10% of your class? craziness
definitely submit your SAT score. not your ACT.
Stanford-slight reach
u of Chicago-high match
Brown-reach
Duke-match
Columbia-reach
NYU-??
JHU-??
Rice-match
Washington University in St. Louis-match (in the typical washu way, they'll probably waitlist you though)
University of Kansas-safety
University of Michigan-Ann Arbor-safety
University of Wisconsin-Madison-safety</p>

<p>The only downfall I see is your rank because it leaves you out of the top ten percent of your class. I would say because of this Brown, Stanford, Duke, and Columbia might be low reaches. Nothing impossible though. Everything else looks really good, especially your SAT scores.</p>

<p>token889:
I have not taken the SAT</p>

<p>If I am seeing this correctly, it looks like your subject test scores are 800 800 780? If thats true, id recommend you retake your act.
I can kinda see your rank hurting you..intel would help, but nothing about your ECs really jumps out..develop and emphasize your passion(s).
Right now, I would say Stanford Columbia Duke and Brown are reaches, rice and WashU are high matches, mich jhu and chicago (with a good essay) are matches, and the rest i think youll get into.</p>

<p>whoa totally read that wrong. if you got 800/800/780 on SATII's, why not take the SAT? i think you could do really well. i got pretty close to the same score as you on ACT but i don't think my SATII's will be nearly as high as yours and i got a 2200.</p>

<p>I dont know but I'm not really good at cr or english at all so I'm kind of scared to take the SAT.
On my ACT i a 36 on math and 35 on science which kinda helped to bring my composite score up.</p>

<p>oh and do you guys think my college list is reasonable?</p>

<p>"a 3.97 put you out of the top 10% of your class?"
"The only downfall I see is your rank because it leaves you out of the top ten percent of your class."</p>

<p>Umm, maybe I'm mistaken, but isn't 41/417 in the top 10% of his class.</p>
