Well, im black....and im a girl. im the co-president of a non profit organization that connects students with jobs/internships in the community, i like to think it's pretty unique. i also moved to the US at 4 from africa and will be applying as a resident. financial aid is not a major issue.

Major: International Relations, Broadcast Journalism, or Law (or combination somehow ie. major in IR and minor in BJ.

so i know my SAT scores stink and im devoting every moment to adjusting that part of my resume. what do you think my chances are? any adivice on how to improve them?

werunthis, don't stress over your scores. Yes, you should retake and yes, you should prepare but in my opinion your scores will neither get you in nor keep you out. I'm not sure how to equate 90.12 on a 4 point scale. What's your rank?

Instead I would focus on making sure
1. that your first semester senior grades are sparkling,
2. that you have wonderful recommendations from teachers and a counselor who know you well academically
3. that you write stunning essays that demonstrate indirectly what you could contribute to the campus community
4. that you put together a comprehensive and easily understood resume. Include information about your non-profit organization and a supplemental recommendation from an adult who is involved as well.

If you haven't visited Williams try to do so.

If finances really aren't an issue for you, apply ED.

I think you could have a decent shot if you improved your test scores I would aim for 600+ on each section. You have good ec's and volunteer work. Also williams doesnt offer a IR major but they do have a IR concentration, and i guess if you really want to you could make your own major. I agree with momrath that if you know that williams is def the school that you want to attend then apply ED.

You should know that Williams does not offer a pre-law track (nor should that matter, for many see pre-law itself as sort of an unrealistic major that doesn't really reflect what law school is actually like), nor is there a broadcast journalism major. We do have an IR concentration within the Political Science major, but it may be different from what you're thinking. That course of study deals with modern political science's theories of relations between states (i.e. realism, liberalism, Marxism, constructivism, etc.), though the upper level electives focus less on the theory and more on empirical cases.
