Thanks for the input; is there any chance I could get some significant merit money, or do people who compete for them have way better stats?

A simple Google search for "rochester scholarships"...

<a href="http://enrollment.rochester.edu/admissions/financial/merit.shtm%5B/url%5D">http://enrollment.rochester.edu/admissions/financial/merit.shtm</a></p>

It is my opinion that Rochester does a pretty good job with fin aid packages AS A WHOLE... mainly to attract freshman. After freshman year, there have been complaints that those aid packages drop quite a bit (many of my friends have commented about this-on the other hand, the fact that the class of 2010 is so large probably has a lot to do with it, too). Rochester probably isn't the only university that does this. Also, by the time you are making your college decisions, total costs for Rochester (as listed on their financial aid website) will have exceeded 50,000 USD a year.

I would say you should apply to the school and see what they offer you when you get accepted*. ;) You should also look into scholarships from other sources.

*obligatory disclaimer...

Thanks, I had already looked into UR's scholarships quite a bit and I was wondering what the stats were of people who usually got them.

my stats weren't great but I got 6k scholarship which I petitioned to a 8k scholarship per year.

sats:1890
gpa: 4.2* really can't remember around that though

looking good! :)
