June SAT: CR = 520 Math = 550 Writing = 390 Total = 1460

I didn't really study for the June SAT's and I messed up big time for the MC of the Writing Section while my Essay score went from a 7 in March to a 9 in June. I'm currently studying vigorously on SAT Vocab and doing alot of Practice Tests for the October SATs. I'm aiming for a 1800.(600,600,600)

I have alot of extracurriculars however:

for teachers recs one of the teachers that is writing it is an alumni of UDel. if that should do anything..

Are you in state? If you are, that would be a HUGE help for you.

Otherwise, with udel's increasing competition, I personally don't think you will get in. People have the same if better activities than you with better grades. You seem to be the average udel app these days.

The grades are not up to par with other out of staters. You can try to apply. I think that D- in pre cal will hurt. good luck.

yeah. im not that great in math. :( i almost failed but got an A- on my final... fooling around in class got me screwed.

Here is where you can find last year's freshman class profile: http://admissions.udel.edu/apply/freshmanprofile.shtml
You're SATs and grades are pretty low and it is true that the bar is set higher for OOS. Maybe you have some other kind of hook?

I think I can get a higher SAT score cause I been studying very hard during the summer and I've been getting 1900's on practice SAT's. the other 2 sats I barely studied. its not even considered studying...

Jim - It's difficult to be enthusiastic about your chances given the information you've provided. Particularly worrisome are the downward trend in grades from freshman through Junior years, and the D- in pre-Calc. Ironically, a high SAT score may actually hurt more than help, since it suggests you could be that classic "slacker dude" many colleges prefer to avoid.

Fortunately you have time to improve your image. Get the best SAT score you can in order to show an upward trend there. Get the best grades you can during the Fall of Senior year and talk about that improvement in your college applications. Work hard on your essay, and make sure you get it critiqued by one of your teachers. Also consider taking a college level math course at your local community college this fall, and make sure that experience (and grade!) gets into your college application.

Best of luck with this.
