Chances

I know it is sort of early but I had a really low overall freshman average, 91, and I was wondering if that will heavily affect my chances in getting into a good college?

Also, what are some good EC activities to join? (I'm only in Model UN and Speech and Debate right now). However, I'm not sure how much time I'll have in sophomore year since I'm taking AP Physics B and AP World History.

most colleges don't care about freshman year.

you'll see...

Where did you get that idea? SOME colleges don't look at fr year. Many do.

To Patrick: please consider what you call a "good" college. What then is a "bad" college"? Don't be fooled into this USNWR rankings garbage. I'm an alum of one of the HYP colleges and while we jockey for 1-2-3 each year in that ranking, I can honestly tell you that there are about 200 GREAT colleges in america. Continue to push yourself, take challenging classes. Dabble in the ECs -- see what you like and can fit in. Maybe you'll find one, maybe two, maybe none. That's ok. Maybe get a PT job and drop a boring EC. That's fine too.

One last thing: I gather that you're a rising Sophomore. Delete this site from your bookmarks until Junior year. The level of craziness and stress and ridiculous thumbtwirling on this site needs to be taken in context. Stay away from here for about 1.5 years. Relax a bit and enjoy your HS career.

I wouldn't worry about it. An upward trend in grades always looks good to colleges so don't sweat it, even if they do consider freshman year.
