*I've held the same job for 2.5 years now (20 hours a week), and I help support my family in this way; boss loves me and offers to write me a recommendation every time we speak. It would be a fantastic rec too because I am a model employee and am often used to train the newcomers.
*Recommendations should be very good, my GC has known me for about 11 years and my teachers like me rather well...
*I've started my essay about my recent experience with the peculiar economies in Eastern Europe and I'm tying that in with my fascination with globalization as well as why I would make a good economist. Good?

Thanks.

You've got better stats than some people I know that got in oos. In unless you completely freak up the essay.

Really good ECs, great GPA, sat falls in the middle 50%, and in-state. I'd be surprised if you didn't get in. Good luck!

PM me your essay when you're done so I can help you proof read. I'm sure you're in, it's a question as to whether or not you get into Honors/any scholarships. By that I mean take your application seriously, and don't make any assumptions. If you want any money, your essays will be the most important part of your application. Don't let that worry you, though.

you are definitely in from in state- but as cloying said you certainly need to be strong in the essays because you stand a good chance at getting merit based money and honors.

Do you guys think that, given my income level, I would be in the running for a need-based full ride? If not, I see applying as pointless - I can't pay for much.

you definitely could be in the running for the carolina covenant. but PLEASE DO NOT think it a waste to apply if you dont get a full ride from need based. you may get a good amount of need based aid and get the rest off of merit as well as outside scholarship money

UNC is super duper awesome about financial aid. Apply!
