High 90's percent chance you're in. Good luck and nice work

even with the crappy test score?

Your gpa makes up for it, don't worry. Besides, a 27 is still in the median.

On the other hand, you could always take the SAT, since they superscore it

the A's in health and gym make up for the average test score

bummmp....

W.GPA 4.9
UW GPA 3.65

That's quiet a difference. Is that common?

i wouldnt say its exactly "common"...but i did the best i could with 11 Ap classes...

Moviebuff is right. Not only is it uncommon, it's impossible! UF recalculates GPA's based only on academic classes, with honors/pre-IB given half-weight(.5) and AP/IB's given full weight(1). So the OP's difference of ~1.3 is not possible. I assume he was working on a school system that was different from UF's. However, all GPA's need to be reworked to UF standards before any true chances can be given.

Reading this post over, it sounds kinda mean. I didn't mean it that way.

I think the OP's Florida (UF weighting) gpa is 4.2. This, together with the excellent EC's (both leadership and varsity sports) and reasonable ACT give his/her a very solid chance at UF.

Wow, they give .5 for pre-IB and 1 for IB?
Do most schools do this?

If so, then I'm golden.

Through Freshman and Sophomore Year, I have ~4.21
So far through Junior year, I have ~4.56, which would bring the cumulative average through 5 semesters to ~4.28

"Three years after university officials capped the size of the freshman class at about 6,600, competition at UF is at an all-time high, forcing admissions workers to choose among the brightest and leaving behind an unprecedented number of disappointed families. Of those who applied to be part of this fall's incoming freshman class, an estimated 42 percent were accepted -- the lowest acceptance rate in the history of the state's public schools. Selectivity at the state's top university is expected to heighten as UF continues to work toward becoming one of the nation's Top 10 public universities. It should also be noted, the Yield rate was at 57% for last year."

^^^

Please stop posting this in EVERY thread. We read it, and we don't need it anymore.

anyone else have an opinion?

I am a bit confused here, is UF's admission policy randomized. That being said, would having a low test score (ACT/SAT) harm me of getting in

How can grades make up for poor test scores.

3.69 (UW)
5.4 (W)

so, do u guys think i have a solid shot at uf?

I don't know, but according to what someone posted as UF's grade weighting system, the most a GPA can vary under that system from unweighted to weighted is 1 pt. (If EVERY class was either AP or IB)

All state universities in Florida by law use the same formula. There is a chart you can use to calculate that Florida university system weighted GPA here:
http://cyberguidance.net/college/recalgpa.pdf

its about a 4.2 according to that
