your stats are vague. You've done really well on your tests but still that only says so much. But judging from your scores, I'd say you do stand a chance. although if you elaborated more on yourself, maybe someone can give you a more detailed response.

SAT scores look great enough. yeah i have the same question about GPA/academics. it looks like your weakest point. i dont think CMU engineering is as hard to get in as comp sci, so i think overall you should have a good chance on getting in. good luck.

ouch. That rank is a bit bad. We'd need more information about your high school. If, for instance, its named "Institution for the exceptionally bright eggheads of America" or something similar, it raises your chances slightly. But if you're like me and are in a high school like "<insert name="" of="" city="" here=""> High School", then that rank is not going to work for CMU.</insert>

and...... GPA is a very important admission factor, and rigor of the classes you have taken.
The SAT is considered only as an important admission factor

If your overall gpa for first 3 yrs is 3.4 uw, and it's 3.3 soph and junior year as you say, then it was around 3.6 freshman year. If gpa isn't the best I think any school would rather see an improvement than a downturn. That could be a problem, I agree with the others.

Still if your essay's good who knows I think you have a chance. It's definitely worth a try. Your scores are good. Spend time on essays.
