<p>I dislike Chances threads because admissions is not always straightforward. That said said, you look like a reasonably good candidate for Smith but not a slam dunk. Out of curiosity, what instrument do you play and do plan to play in college?</p>

<p>probably violin since that's what I play in orchestra. But if I have chance, I would like to play piano as well. thank you for your replies!</p>

<p>Fwiw, the violin section is pretty competitive, along with flute and clarinet, being the most competitive in Smith's Orchestra.</p>

<p>Yeah, it's pretty hard to get into orchestra as a violinist because they already have so many. But you can still take lessons for credit if you want to keep it up.</p>

<p>Yeah, they do have a number of violinists but some are graduating (our D for example) and some will likely go JYA so there is always turnover. You should definitely contact the orchestra and audition if you end up at Smith. Good Luck.
