Chances?

I was an exchange student last year through Rotary and I lived in Belgium, so I speak French. I received school credited for this year.
Female, white
SAT MAth 650
Writing 670
Reading 780
GPA 3.49

Participant in Washington Aerospace Scholars
No super involvement in school activities, but lettered in swimming all but the year abroad. I did Academic Decathlon for two years. I'm somewhat active in the environmental club.

AP classes
Year 10: World History (4)
Year 11: none
Year 12: Calculus AB, Physics AB, Literature and Composition

Also I'm currently studying Spanish.

I'm very intelligent, although the year abroad makes the stats reflect that a lot less than they should.

I'm interested in majoring in Geology, but am interested in most sciences, although I'm not a fan of Biology.

I'm interested in UC Berkeley and my parentas think I ought to apply to Caltech. For the latter, I think I would love to attend, but I don't feel I have much of a chance of being admitted, they have their choice of many people more qualified than I am.

But that aside, how are my chance for those two? Any suggestions for where I ought to go? I'm interested in eventually ending up in academia.

Are you in-state for Berkeley?

Berkeley: Very Unlikely
CalTech: REJECT

You claim to be very intelligent, but that should be reflected in your grades and SAT scores.

Include matches and safeties, and let these two be your reaches (add some more reaches if you want).

You might not enjoy Caltech. That place is ridiculously difficult to graduate from.

To be honest, your chances at both are bad
Berkeley - 20%
Caltech - 0%

International
Berkley: Low chances due to international
Caltech: SAT alone almost kills your chances
