Chances?

<p>Hi, Im a female hispanic junior at a very large and noncompetitive hs in central Jersey. Im the only daughter of a single mom, income ~40k. My dad received a 2yr degree at a cc in FL but other than that, Id be the first to go to a four yr school.. My fortes are math and art and Im hoping to major in either Civil Engineering and/or Architecture. Any advice?</p>

<p>I also attend something called Arts High School which is a separate program where if selected (~20/500 students chosen at auditions for each class- Ive attended for theatre arts and visual arts) you leave school second half of the day and participate in a 4hr class held at middlesex county college (NJ) every week for 14 weeks (taught by college professors). Ive been doing it since 7th grade but obvi can only put on apps my involvement since freshman year </p>

-worked with kids ranging from 5yrs-15yrs
Interned the week of my Spring Break @ my mom's job doing office work (she's a credit/collections manager for a temp agency called Accountabilits Inc.)</p>

<p>If I could get any advice on what I could do throughout the course of this year to highten my chances, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!</p>

<p>Hate to say it, but SATs play a pretty significant role. If they are in line with the rest of your app (around 1450/2200 or so) you should have a pretty decent shot.</p>

<p>Line up a teacher who can speak to why you belong at ND. There is also a professor of engineering who can be helpful–PM me and I’ll dig up her name.</p>
