club treasurer for a science club
also written for a few publications

torresjw- I think you have a great shot. Your SATs are really high, you have great EC's, your course load is tough. Your GPA is a bit low, but considering you go to a tough school, I don't think it should hurt you too much!

vjp- My stats are around the same as yours. I have a little higher SAT and GPA, but not by much. I am also from PA, so hopefully we both get in! I applied ED, so I'll let you know what happens....

good luck hope you get in

torres ... are you kidding? You might be dean of students by your soph year. Pack your peachpicking bags. Barring a history of felony convictions, you're in like flint. Furman is terrif but it ain't Princeton. Heck, they'll be paying you to come.

NOW please chance me :)

I'd say as long as you're not a recognized drug trafficker or child porn producer, FU will be welcoming you with open arms. I hear there are a great many Nepalese in the 'burbs of Greenville. Can you spell ... Paladin? (Hint: It's spelled just like I spelled it.)

You did not list your Toefl ... how come? ;) Wondering ... just what does one have to do to win the Mahatma Gandhi Scholarship? Go on a hunger strike? Advocate for world peace in the local beauty pageant?

Good luck, I think.

To win the scholarship one should compete with high school students from all over Nepal. They provide about 200-300 scholarship every year and I was lucky to get one because of my academics. Well Toefl scores, I guess are above minimum requirement for college, so thought it was not necessary to list. And what is Paladin? And abt Child Porn and Drug Trafficking, they are not in my ECA's list :D

manasm, I also think you have a very good chance.

Just out of curiosity, how did you hear about Furman in Nepal? Just curious if they are actively recruiting folks that far?

I found about Furman through my seniors who applied there & also through USNews. The College's Admission dept said there are no Nepalese students currently studying there. If I am lucky I might be the first one;)

manasm, I noticed that your Math, Physics and Chemistry SAT scores are strong. I am sure you know this, but Furman has a well known strong reputation for undergraduate Chemistry.
