FSU uses only academic classes for its GPA calculation. It uses only your english, math, history, science, languages, etc. It does not use any art, architecture, photojournalism, band, music, choir, business, marketing, PE, health, etc classes (other than AP classes). It uses a 4.0 scale, with +.5 for honors and DE, and +1 for AP. THat's it. It does look at strength of schedule, and does take into consideration a 3.5 with all honors and AP vs a 3.5 without. EC's are more important the closer you are to the lower end of the 25%-75% on SAT and grades. There is a thread someone on the boards with a link where it shows exactly how to calculate your FSU GPA. Based on your schools weighting scale, and the fact that your GPA is probably based on some A's in electives, your FSU GPA is probably a little lower than you think.

Here is the link for calculating your FSU weighted GPA:

This calculation made S's GPA higher than I thought, so that's a good thing.

So..when I'm calculating in, I only use my final grade in the class??

And also, I'm taking AP Enviornmental this year, along with Chemistry, so do I put both when I calculate my gpa?

Yes they look at your final grade for the course.

Oh..so I end up with a 3.8 FSU gpa...is that good? what's the median gpa at fsu?

A 3.8 is good. A solid GPA. I believe the enrolled FTIC GPA is somewhere around 3.63 currently...per the CDS. Around 65% are 3.5 and above; with nearly 40% coming in above 3.75.

Couple that with a good SAT (min 1220) and solid academic courses and you'd be fine.

Questions: For recalculating grades would AP Art History be considered a social studies or a humnaities? If social studies, it would go into recalculation, but if humanities, it won't ... right?

Thanks!
