I'm a musician who has been recognized at the state level and I play in a prestigious youth orchestra. I sent in recordings of my playing with my applications. My recs were very good (my teachers told me) and I'm from Pennsylvania. I go to an inner-city school and am a student in the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program (IB classes are given the same weight as AP classes).

Jo, your stats seem solid for just about any top school. Just apply. Don't worry about chances. Ultimately, you'll most likely end up at the school of your dreams.

Jo:

Are u from Philly? If yes, are u at Masterman? Are u applying this year?

I think you have as good a chance as all the other kids with similar stats. If you haven't done so and it is not too late you should definitely request an alumni interview. They are alot of fun and there is one interviewer who is a private school teacher in Philly area who really excited me about being a Wes student. A solid interview enhances your chances.

Hopefully you did a great job on your essay and your ECs will show u to be a great Wes match which is very important to our school.(I'm a first year)

Best of luck.

I'm actually from Pittsburgh. I already had an interview and I think it went well.

Danalynne, how do you like Wesleyan so far?

^ IB=awesomeness! :)

Choosing Wesleyan was the best decision I've ever made. The friends I have made are amazing people,so much fun and caring. My profs first semester were great teachers and wanted us to be engaged and enjoy the material. There was a tremendous amount of work but really interesting. There are so many things to do on weekends, great social life. The food is good. My dorm is newly renovated and I have a good roommate(thank goodness). The only thing about Wes that is negative is it's so expensive.

I think there definitely is a Wes-type of kid. Intellectually aware, very open-minded to all types of lifestyles, hard working but not competitive with one another, friendly, supportive and very very active. We love our FUN. If u are lucky enough to get in here go.
