good essay for common app but did not do supplementary essay since i knew it would suck and had nothing to write

Again, I'm just a HS senior, but here are my thoughts:

Your class rank and GPA are really great, and your SATs are pretty good too. But since it's W&M, there are plenty of well qualified applicants with the same, if not better SAT scores and transcripts.

So, I'm thinking it comes down to the essays, ECs, and recs. I mean this in the kindest way, but I think it was a major mistake not to do the supplemental essay.

Of course, take all that for what it's worth, which is very little considering that I'm waiting for my decision from W&M just like you are.

Best of luck!

I'm not an expert here, so take my observations with a grain. You're clearly bright enough and well within the top measures for the College of. Being from NJ and a female makes for a tougher sled though, I suspect. I'd project the decision of your admission will be subjective in the end ... what spark(s) might the Admit Committee discover in your revealing words and activities that would set you above the hundreds, maybe thousands of others of bright and active girls from the Northeast pursuing the same spot as yours?

Were your last sentence known to that committee, 'twould concern me a great deal, as it suggests not that you're less than interesting and interested, but rather you lack the insight or reflectiveness about your personal wonders and wonderings. It might also raise question of your degree of motivation for becoming a member of thw W&M community in failing to submit the supplement. I don't believe yours is a simple answer.

Good luck in your pursuit.

Not doing the Supp essay is a bit of a mistake, but with good stats and althletic involvement, you have good chances. Good Luck!
