Hello all, Im new to this forum so this would be my first post.
Im a little nervous right now, so would anyone give me what they think about my credentials?

GPA: 3.5 uw, 4.1 W senior year, 3 APs, Private College Prep School.
SAT’s: 730 Verbal, 560 Math (I know…) 630 Reading
ACT’s: 29 Overall, 36 Reading, 28 Math, 26 English
Athletics: 4 years of Varsity Lacrosse, 3 as a starter. 2 years Varsity Wrestling. Weight Lifting class- 2 years.
Leadership: 4 year Class President, 2007 DE Boy’s State Delegate
Other: School Service Club, Son of USNA graduate
Nomination: Recieved- Senator Joe Biden
Medical: Qualified by DODMERB

Your Math score is very low, almost 100 points (Mean was 658 for 2011), Your act is low for English (mean is 29), what did you get in the science portion?

Your other ec's are good which is aan asset How did you do on your CFA?

Was your nom principal? Did you get from other MOC's also?

Also remember if Biden didn't give a principal on his slate, than you have to wait until all of the candidates from your MOC have placed their file in, unless you have an LOA or so our ALO and academic director at the academy explained to my s

Science was a 27, English was low on Act but im hoping they see that I got a 730 on the SAT and realize I focused my efforts on Math.

I have not found out yet if my nomination is principle, as I have not recieved a letter from the Senator to this point (Found out about my nomination on USAFA website.) I am not aware yet of any other nominations, as I have yet to hear from my other congressmen.

and I did well on my CFA. 90 Pushups, 80 Situps, 6:50 Run, I forget the shuttle time and bball throw but the run was just below the average and the throw was about right on.

This is directly from the site and it my help you judge for yourself

For the average candidate, the relative weighting of the scores that go into the selection composite are: 60 percent academic composite, 20 percent extracurricular composite and 20 percent selection panel rating.

The SAT is part of ypur academic score
SAT I Mid-50% Range Mean
Verbal Aptitude 590-660 629
Math Aptitude 630-690 658

ACT Mid-50% Range Mean
English 27-31 29
Reading 28-32 30
Mathematics 28-32 30
Science Reasoning 27-31 29

How did your ALO rate you for his report, it might help you make up points
Also what was the "official gpa" that the academy recorded, this might help as a sign of a good student, not so good test taker.

your cfa is good, your extra curriculars are pretty good, sat and act could be just a little higher... other than that, you've already got a nom, looks pretty good to me... just up to the academy now. look for that status change on the internet (i got my letter first)

I have a question that maybe somebody else can answer...if the candidate submits both SAT and ACT, how do they score it for the panel....do they give a score for SAT and another for ACT and average, or do they take the higher from ea...i.e 730 CR and 28 Math

When will USAFA add the writing section of the SAT into admissions? Because I know that the USMA is adding the writing portion of the SAT for the class of 2013.

In response to if they would take the 730 verbal 28 math, that would be wonderful. According to my ALO however, they only use one test, the test which gives me the highest PAR.
Thank you to everyone for your responses

Need some help please. Are applicants automatically considered for prep school as an alternative to being appointed/denied to the academy? Thanks.

Civilian students applying for, but not receiving, an appointment to the U.S. Air Force Academy need not reapply to the Preparatory School; they will automatically be considered for a Prep School appointment.

Curious, does anyone know why USAFA takes the ACT science reasoning and reading sections too? Because If one submits the SAT they only look at math and critical reading. Are the SR and english sections not weighed heavily or do they just report them so candidates don't skip those sections? I know at USNA they only take the ACT english and math sections and disregard the science reasoning and reading.

I know that a lot of colleges don't look at the SAT writing because it is so new and they don't have a basis to compare it with yet, that may be true for USAFA
