1 of my teacher recs is amazing. The other, however, somehow got lost in the mail. I called Columbia and they told me to fax them the forms with my ID at the top of them. Hopefully this won't hurt me too much.

I'm very confident in my essay.

So do I have a shot?

^i've seen profiles like yours at columbia (like done a lot of work, been busy earning money for college) I think columbia will respect all this, and give you due credit, that being said, the kids who get in would likely also have higher SATs and grades, so chance for you are very slim (especially since you are not an under represented minority URM), but you might, might just get a thick envelope, keep the fingers crossed.

Im going nutz right now, because in my eyes, ur a frikkin genious

It's crazy that it's like im in a different pool, just because I am African american, and in an under represented minority!

Columbia is difficult to get into for everybody. Your posted profile is interesting. Although your SAT I scores are low for Columbia, the rest of your application is notable. Many Ivies look for highly competitive distance/cross-country runners, leaders and will like your linguistic abilities. First generation immigrant is a big plus. I think that you may be admitted. Good luck!

"I think that you may be admitted"

It's unjust to give these false hopes, yes there is a chance of him/her being admitted, but if he/she is top 15% of 1000, where do the other 150 kids go? they're not all nerdy inside and underachieving outside the class room, i'd bet that half of them have nearly as good ECs as he/she does and are applying to similar caliber places, so i really wouldn't expect an offer.
