<p>Your 27 ACT, 3.2 GPA and no AP/honors might hurt. However, if you’re a really talented musician, then you’ve still got a fairly good chance. I don’t suppose you’ve sent them a cd?</p>

<p>I’m going to say a reach. Michigan definitely wants people of Honors/AP level. Michigan really likes Band people, but then again… a lot of applicants take band. Like you said, I would say a stretch. If you don’t get into Michigan, Michigan State is definitely at your level (and is awesome, If I may say).</p>
<p>Rising trend will help; UM doesn’t count freshman grades. If your school offers APs, take as many as you can; they look hard at whether you’ve pursued the most rigorous program possible at your school. Good luck!</p>
