Chances! :=)

I'm a junior in high school. I will be graduating in the class of '09. knowing Columbia's high selectiveness, I would like to know how good my chances of admission are.

Will take SAT's in May(what's the minimum score that will still make me competitive?)

There's no one answer to that. On the one hand, their average SAT score is a 2140. On the other hand, if you'll navigate over to the ED and RD results page, tons of people with 2300's+ are rejected (and also a few with 1800s and 1900s that are accepted).

Dudette and fellow Hispanic, I would like to say your chances are great. I was just accepted to Columbia College, with stats far inferior to yours. I lived half my life in the Dominican Republic, and I think your multiple language experience will help you immensly (I am fluent in English Spanish and almost in Italian. I also studied French)

For the record, here are some of my stats:

Scored a 2160 (Cr: 660 M:750 W:750) on my SAT I.
SAT II: Spanish 800, Bio M 690
Rank: 33/186. Amazing right?
GPA: somewhere in the lower 90s.

Don't worry about a couple B+ grades, I had a C or 2. Try to expand on your ECs though.

Don't underestimate the power of your essays and recommendations. Those are what got me in. Get to know your guidance counselors and teachers if you haven't.

Number-wise, you're more than fine. And your an immigrant hispanic! Even race aside, your numbers are highly competitive with some non-URMs (non-Under Represented Minorities) who were accepted.

Good Luck =]
