ooh..
well good luck with that

Is that supposed to be condescending?

nope sorry.. I actually dont know anything about that stuff
so I couldn't think of anything to say.. sorry if it came out wrong..
And sincerely good luck.

OK! I just got a bad vibe I guess. LOL

buddy you're kidding yourself if you think that rec will in any way help your chances of getting into gw. maybe you should check out your local community college.

Yeah, I am still laughing about that guy's rec. I can just see the adcom's faces when they read the rec.

Okay.... playing the numbers game. I've got a 1310 SAT (which I took again and now I'm trying to think 1400 thoughts...) A 3.8 uw GPA, Im in the top 10% of my class and have good recs. What do y'all think my chances are getting in to GW?

Did you apply ED or RD?

You have a really good chance ED, and a 50-50 or better chance RD.

RD..... drrrrg I knew being indecisive would screw me over. Okay, where else did you guys apply? I'm in dire need of another safety school (I'm already applying to American) and I'm trying to get the heck out of dodge.

George Mason

Isn't that a commuter school?

James Madison? It's in VA, but whatever. I guess you could apply to Catholic University in DC, but unless you are catholic...

And there's always howard, but it you aren't black...

It's hard for me to find a school comparable to GW. It's just so unique!

How catholic is Catholic U? (I'm catholic but not by anymeans a kind of catholic zealot) Any suggestions outside of VA? I really want a large school in a big city, if that helps narrow it down, but it hasn't worked for me yet. ;)

To everyone applying to GW: Don't be so worried, it is still quite an attainable goal for the hard-working, goal motivated student. I took a semester off of college after choosing not to enroll in school abroad and decided to apply to GW for the spring. Finishing High school, I had a 2.86 gpa, granted in all AP classes for the final 2 years. My sats were not stellar either, a combined 1290 (590 math 700 verbal) and with 3 sat 2's, a 780 in writting, 590 in LIt, and 500 in math IC. I applied to GW and was accepted.
My point is, its not as hard to get into as you are all making it seem. A good essay coupled with informative reccomendations that reveal things about your character or talents that distinguish you will aid you greatly in the application process wherever you apply. Take me as an exmaple: I applied regular decision from New York City, arguably the most competitive area in that it provides the most applications in conjunction with the rest of the tri state area(NY, NJ & CT), from a top notch public school, and with undistinguishing marks/ test scores. I believe that what got me accepted was my stellar essay, on a topic that was not cliche and that I was passionate about, and my excellent counselor reccomendation. I also talked via email with my personal admissions counselor, who contacted me when information was missing, and stressed to her my strong interest in GW as my number one school.
For everyone applying, good luck. Realize that the people choosing you are looking for things that distinguish you and would make you a valuable asset to the school community. Make sure you convey a unique you in the applications process.
Good luck

4 days till RD deadline.. hopefully theyll start responding soon after
