Chances??????

I have a 3.2 GPA. Although I don't know if this matters but I go to The Dalton School. Does coming from a New York private school hurt my chances? I got a 2.78 Freshman year and I have gotten better and better each year.

I got a 30 on the ACT. I took 1 SAT II (Chemistry) and got a 710. I plan on taking Math 2C I expect something like a 750 on that.

I have a good amount of ECs: I worked at a local synagogue, tutored kids in Harlem, worked at a non-profit thrift shop for aids research, Congresswoman Carolyn Maloney's office. Deutsche Bank, School Newspaper (Staff Writer), Editor in Chief of Tiger Wire (Sports Magazine), Varsity Football and Varsity Lacrosse.

I also am an Asian American and plan on applying early. Does being from the north help?

Any response would be very helpful. Thank you.

Really good EC's. Being from NYC hurts, but the Dalton school certainly isn't a joke, so you should have an excellent shot at emory. If you apply early and have good essays, I'd say you're in.

but one question.

You worked at Deutsche Bank??????????????????

I was an intern there

as a high school student? in the IBD? as a summer analyst? no offense, but it seems HIGHLY unlilkely that a high school student could get that, because Juniors in HYP + Wharton have hard enough times landing gigs like that.

usually when college juniors get internships at prestigious BB, that basically states that hte bank is willing to extend a FT offer to that student upon graduation.

One of the owners goes to my school so it was through the school internship office.

wow, that's really awesome! you should def apply to emory, maybe aim a little higher if you get solid senior grades

I applied this year Regular and got in Oxford, waitlisted at Emory. Here are my stats.

3.8 GPA (weighted) only about top 20% of my class at a competitive NJ H.S.
2150 SATs (800 math 680 Reading 670 Writing)
SAT II's: 800 Math 2C, 760 Chem, 730 Bio, 680 U.S
3 AP classes Jr. Year (5 on Stat, U.S., and Chem)
4 AP classes Sr. Year (Macro/micro economics, Physics C, Calc AB)
ECs: Varsity Golf for 4 years, placement in FBLA competitions, worked in an office, volunteered at a senior home (not that great ECs)
I think my essays hurt me a little bit also. I feel they were kinda generic and if I wrote better ones or had better EC's I could of made it in Main Campus.
