Hello, I'm a junior and I was wondering what you guys think my chances are for the folowing schools...
UC Santa Cruz (probably my number one choice)
Univeristy of San Francisco
UC Davis
UCSB
University of Colorado-Boulder

GPA: 3.3 (not weighted) 3.6 (weighted)
SAT Reasoning : 1790
math: 650
reading: 550
writing: 590
I'm taking the subject test in June and the ACT in September.

I've been in track and cross country and I got a varsity letter award. I got a stress fracture and had to skip this past season of track. I've also been in the interact club at my school.

You are pretty much right at the averages for UC Santa Cruz.

Their average is approximately 3.57 (UC GPA which is weighted considering only 4 extra honors/AP/IB courses), with an average SAT of approximately 1750.

UC Santa Cruz (the Banana Slugs)--Match
UCSB/UC Davis--Reach
USF (the Dons)--Match
Univ of Colorado (Buffalos)--Match

I suggest you retake the SAT one more time and try to improve your reading score by at least 50 points or so, since even if your overall score fell, that wouldn't hurt you at the UCs, but the extra 50 points would improve your chances at the University of Colorado and USF (both of which count the best score in each section).

P.S. I'm not trying to convince you not to go to Santa Cruz (since I live in the area myself and love it here), but only want to make sure you have more colleges to choose from.

Yes, "match" means your statistics match those of the average person admitted to the school.

It also means you are more likely to be admitted to the school than you are to be rejected by the school. Usually, a "safe match" means your chances are more than 75% or so (about 3 out of 4 applying with those stats will get in--of course, you must realize that this still means that if we chance 4 people, then 1 may not get in). So, don't take these stats for granted--you still have to do your best in filling out the application and state all your accomplishments in the best way possible to make them want to admit you.
