bump, anyone?

your stats/classes/scores were almost identical to my daughters-
we are from NC too!
She was accepted and will be attedning in the fall

I think you're in
especially with your URM status: you're from the SOUTH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I won't even begin to "chance" you, though your info does look impressive.

The only thing I want to add is that--and I can't prove this, it's just an "observant hunch"--it is my opinion that UR would like to have more students from NC. NC has so many good schools to choose from and consequently too few students decide to study elsewhere nevertheless (like my daughter who's matriculating at UR in a matter of weeks now.) I think it is a plus that you're from NC: all things considered there really aren't that many students at UR from NC considering that it's the state next door.

Well, we just got back from our tour of schools. Loved W&L but Richmond took 1st place in her heart. She is ready ready ready to go and cannot wait to take advantage of all it offers. I was so impressed. Our tour guide was great (Nadine Saint) and the speaker was awesome (info session). She is ready for ED and now the nerves begin.......ahhhhhh.....told her to score all As in her AP classes this fall. No pressure, LOL.

252525 - I'm glad your daughter had such a wonderful visit! If you don't mind, what are her stats? I am also hoping to apply ED and the nerves have already began for me. I am a little worried my stats may not make the cut.

Raceme117, I sent you a PM. Forget the question I asked.....I see your earlier post. Your stats look strong.

25: Your experience sounds somewhat similar to our "East Coast tour of Colleges" last July. UR was the first college on our itinerary (it was just one college out of 8-9 we visited) and we too were impressed with the tour--the guide, the campus and the people we met. It's true that first impressions can be crucial. If we had known my daughter would end up at UR it would have saved us a lot of driving along the East Coast and a hectic ten days.

252525 provided URichmond with a very nice write up on the Collegte Visits section of this site.

I would however respectfully differ with 252525 on the mediocre grade 252525 he/ she in the evaluation for "City/Town/Community".

The City of Richmond is a great place and I have included the following link from the New York Times Travel Section and request that 252525 keep an open mind regarding the City of Richmond.

Campus Visit Notes for University of Richmond:
Visit Description: Spent about 4 hours on campus. Took tour, sat in info session, and went back and walked the campus. Very impressive facilities. Tour guides love their school and it shows.

Otis, I only assigned the 3 because of what we have been told about the crime rates in Richmond. The city is very nice. I am concerned about safety, that's all. No insults to the city intended! It is beautiful!

area immediately outside UoR is beautiful, old world charm, and lots of wealth. One would have to travel to the far sides of Richmond to get to the grimy areas. I lived in the Fan district two years and it's closer to the crime areas; was perfectly safe and loved my time in Richmond.

There are definitely sections of Richmond most people want to avoid, but as someone mentioned previously, if you're concerned about safety around where UR is located, you've probably never left your bedroom. Students tend not to venture to parts of town where safety could be a concern, but even those sections are improving. It really is a nice town and there is a lot more to offer than I thought there was during my four years. I love calling Richmond home after graduating.

It is ridiculous for anyone to believe that a student at UR is in any way at risk because of a "high" crime rate for the City of Richmond.

All major cities have one or more dangerous areas. Everyone knows where to stay away from. If someone is stupid enough to wander into a defined "stay away" area then a problem may arise. If you stay clear of high crime areas then you have no wories.

If someone is worried about crime after visiting UR then they perhaps they should not consider the school.

Otis, calm down! I did not think it was a high crime city, I merely gave it a 3! We loved it. I agree the area right outside the school is beautiful.

As the 2012 statistics just came out, and my ACT score is merely on the low end of the 50% range, does this hinder my chances significantly. I am trying to decide between the University of Richmond and Northeastern. Both for their International Business/Relations programs. I will definitely apply to both schools, I am just trying to decide if I should apply ED to Richmond. I will apple EA to Northeastern.
