I will be a senior this year, and I really want to get accepted at FSU. However, I am really worried that it won't happen. So what do you think?

GPA UW:3.9something
GPA W: 4.5ish
SAT:1200 But the good news is that I've only taken it once, and I'm taking it again soon.

EC's:
-Teen Trend Setters mentor for 2 years so far.
-SGA Treasurer, President, VP, and President this year again.
-Varsity Basketball for 3 years, captain this year.
-Varsity Cross Country for 2 years
-Varsity Soccer this year.
-I placed third in a national mock trial competition.
-I was elected "Governor" of Florida at a state-wide government class/camp in Tallahassee (it's a lot like 4-H legislature).
-I've had a part-time job for the past year.
-I have more, but those are the big ones.

Now here's where my situation gets somewhat unique.... I'm homeschooled, but I've been taking dual enrollment courses almost full time. I will have my A.A. in Pre-Law by December (a few months before I graduate high school) with a 3.9 GPA from Pensacola Junior College. I want to major in political science, if that makes a difference.

So does having my A.A. boost my chances?
How does my college GPA compare to other admitted transfers from community colleges?
When should I apply?

Take the SAT again and score above 1265, which has just been released as the Fall 2008 average. Then I'd say you have an excellent chance. If you can score significantly above 1300 you may qualify for a university scholarship.

FSU looks for course rigor and grades first. After that, the SAT/ACT scores.

Take as many AP course as would apply in your case...but due to your circumstances, I'd suggest making the drive to FSU and personally meeting with an admissions officer with your transcripts in hand.

Apply in August, as soon as the application opens. A significant SAT increase may well earn you $$ to help with university expenses. Don't wait on this retesting.

You'll gladly be accepted. I dual enrolled my entire senior year and I was accepted with lower SAT scores and a lower GPA. Please be advised of the maximum credits that you can have to be considered a freshman. They may consider you a transfer since you have so many credits. I would check into that. They like seeing that you are taking/participating in things that relate to your major, so kudos there. I'd say good luck, but buddy, you really don't need it. ;)

Actually, having your AA complicates things as you will be considered a transfer. And given the budget cuts and changes happening at the Univeristy level, its confusing. If you were applying as a freshman you would be competititve. As a transfer, I don't think anyone can predict. If you have your AA degree by Dec, you should seriously consider applying for Spring semester as you might have a better chance then, when your uniqueness will stand out. If you have your AA by Dec, you most probably can meet HS graduation standards by then. If not, it really doesn't matter anyway. Look into Spring and if so, start the application process soon.

I actually have talked with admissions officer for homeschoolers at the campus. Unfortunately, we didn't have my transcript or anything because it was kind of a spur of the moment type thing. But anyway, she said that I would still be considered a freshman (although they would look at both my high school and college transcripts separately), but I would just jump right into some junior level courses. As for the government thing, no. It was a program called TeenPact. It's pretty much you're average government and leadership class. It isn't really big or well known (we had about 80 students there) but it was still pretty neat.

if you're in state of course you'll get in...ITS NOT THAT HARD TO GET INTO FSU..its not freaking harvard okay with a 3.1 and good ecs and sats youre set...RELAX..if youre out of state its a different story

Thanks again everyone. It's easy to research average SAT's and GPA's, but it's good to hear from people who know what they're talking about. I will certainly apply as soon as the application is out, and I should know by November!
