And what are my chances for the honors program?

Thank you

IN regardless of IS or OOS

Most likely scholarship money if not Banneker.

thanks
but whats a Banneker?

lol

Banneker/Key is a full ride scholarship--I'd agree that you have a very good shot at it--you will most likely be invited to the Honors Program. But make sure your essays are very good...they interview only about 300 applicants for the scholarship and application numbers have been the highest ever the past couple of years.

I agree with all of the above. The essay is actually more important than most assume. Our S is a B/K recipient and has a very similar profile. You have a slightly stronger SAT and he had a stronger gpa. You're in without a question and will get great $ support if your essay is strong.

Max is right the essay means alot, especially if you want Scholars. If you say that you don't want to work in a group project, than there is no chance for Gemstone.

The nice thing about Scholars/Gemstone/Honors is they have their own dorm, also during orientation they only attend with those that are accepted to the program. DS went last week for Scholars, and had the time of his life, already texting and pm'ing people he met, discussing what classes they have together.

These programs were the best thing UMD could ever do, it makes the thought of large classes and enormous amt of strangers less frightening. Scholars have their own dorm, so they are a subset within the campus. They also will show up earlier to move in and get to know ea other throw their extra class.
