Chances?

Hey everybody!

1200 SAT (580M, 620R).

25 ACT (22M and S, 27E, and 30R).
*I’ve only taken these once, I’m taking the SAT again soon.

4.4ish Weighted GPA.

Over 20 College courses, and I’ll have my Associate’s Degree in Pre-Law this December via dual enrollment at a local college.

3.9 GPA College GPA.

I’m a senior and I’m homeschooled (except for the stuff at the college).

I’m out-of-state (Florida)

I’ve got tons of EC stuff, but here are the basics:
3 years varsity basketball (team captain this year).
2 years varsity cross country.
Varsity soccer this year (team captain).
*If you’re wondering how I can play sports, homeschoolers can play for high schools in Florida… take Tim Tebow for example (QB for the U of Florida).
SGA President-second time this year.
SGA Treasurer.
SGA Vice President.
**This was through our homeschool group here.
I’ve won 3rd. place at a national mock trial competition.
I’ve also been elected “Governor” of Florida at a statewide Civics program.
Finally, I have 150 or so hours of community service.

So there’s the basics. Also, I want to apply to the political science program there, if it makes a difference. Speaking of that program, how is political science at UA?

Thanks for your input!!!

You're definitely in. Like 99.5% sure.

Thanks!

If it's a pretty sure thing that I'm in, what's the honors program like? What are the requirements for that?

Bama is easy to get into. What you need to be concerned with is wether or not you will get offered scholarship money not whether or not you will get in. You don't hear of many people getting turned down by Bama. Not that it isn't an excellent school, it's just not a competitive admissions process.

Ok, I guess I can pretty much mark it down as a safety. How hard is it to get into the honors program?

You need a 28 ACT for honors. You can also gain entrance to Honors if you average a 3.3 first semester ... or something like that. I heard it mentioned in the virtual tour but I'm sure the details are listed somewhere on the site.

Bama is easy to get into right now because the University has relaxed admission standards to reach a total student population of 31,000. Forbes ranked us as the #7 public University in the country and #42 national university overall. UA has the most USA Today Academic All Americans over the past 5 years than any other school (Harvard and Yale come in 2nd and 3rd behind Bama). The law school is ranked #30 in the nation and the business school is top tier. Bama should in no way be a back up for you. It is easy to get in but they bust your butt and getting out in 4 years is impressive with the work load put on students who challenge themselves.

Well, my "safety" schools are simply just the schools that I'm almost sure I can get into. It doesn't mean that I'll go there as a last resort. For instance, one of my safeties happens to be my number one or two choice. I'm just giving it the term "safety" because I'm likely to get in.... which is nice, considering how good of a school Bama is as you pointed out, IsleofJD. Thanks for the input and stats!

Great shot!

yeah you have a 99.999 percent chance. I have tons of friends that went there or just got accepted, and your credentials are much better than theirs. Good luck!

How did you major in Pre-Law for an associates degree? Pre law is a track not a major, so are you sure that's what you meant?
