OH GOODNESS. You better improve that reading score. FIND OUT NOW how to take the exam. There is a methodology.

1180? You are very much on the bubble. Fordham is now upper 1200's to close to 1300 now. Not saying they wont take you. Other factors come into play.

Your math score is fine. CBA is competitive. And the core requirements at Fordham take almost two years to complete. A LOT of reading and LOT of writing papers. Even for CBA kids. Its a great school. You will be challenged and have LOTS of homework.

Your high school course curriculum matters.

GET THAT SAT READING SCORE UP.

iwouldnt bother retaking the SATs.

I hate to sound pessimistic, but I really wouldn't get my hopes up with that reading score. I'm not saying there's absolutely no chance of you getting in, just that it's not very great. If you can't take the SAT again, blow them away with a killer essay.

o dont worry, im realistic i know this is a stretch score, and im retaking them in oct, ive been practicing and im able to get my reading score up to a 610 so far, o and i have a step grandpa who attended fordhamn, but i dont think that will do anything. they sent me a "choice application"...any input on those?

YES. Use the Choice Application. If you can get your Reading score up to say....620 or so....it would improve your chances.....that would give you a 1270 core SAT score and in the middle of the pack at Fordham apps. So really work on that score.

Having family as alumnae is not really a benefit at Fordham. But I dont really know.

Keep working and of course get your first semester grades as a senior as high as you can.

Good luck.

how is my gpa for fordham? i know its not above the 50% but is it still in that general range?

Well generally they are looking for 3.5 and up. But the CURRICULUM is important. And you have shown steady improvement. So you are a tad low. You are on the bubble. So its always worth a really good try. You never know.

And so long as you cover your bases and apply to several match and safety schools you will be fine.

Good luck.

will it have any effect that fresh year was a 3.0? like will they generally not look at that. i have heard junior year is the most important and since my junior year was around a 3.94, i was hoping that my chances improve because that was in junior year whereas fresh and soph year was only about a 3.0

I think you look good for Fordham. Though the "middle 50" SAT is 1200-1350 and the average GPA is 3.7, those statistics are a bit skewed upwards. Fordham is used by lots of really top students as their match when they apply to top 25 universities. In Fall 2008, Fordham accepted 11,075 students, but only 1,871 actually enrolled. Many of the high GPA and high SAT students were accepted by their reach school, and chose to go there. I am sure the matriculated student profile would very closely match your qualifications, but Fordham doesn't publish that information. (At least not that I can find.) You have an upward trend in GPA and you scores are only a tiny bit under the middle 50. With a 46% acceptance rate, I think your chances are very good. Good Luck!
