Chances?

Hello guys...this is the first time I've done this, so I hope I'm doing it right. I'm applying to the University of Texas for the Spring '09 Semester. I'm looking to get into the College of Engineering as my first choice major, and the College of Fine Arts (Music) as my second choice. However, I'm not sure if I can even get in, so if you could, please tell me how my application data looks :S.

Essays: Pretty good, definitely among some of the best essays I've written

If your considered instate, you have decent chances. Your SAT and rank are decent, and being a minority definitely helps. Its kind of tough to gauge how much everything will account for, but your in pretty good shape, atleast 75% chance you'll get into the school I think.

Hmm...by school do you mean UT in general, or the College of Engineering? Also, thanks for the reply!

Also, is it harder to get into UT during the spring, or is it essentially the same as Fall Admission?

Engineering... , not sure about Spring/Fall

So is it harder to get in during the Spring? I assume there's less spots to fill, so getting in to Engineering would be harder. If it makes any difference, I applied for Electrical/Computer Engineering.

I would call the UT and ask if they let any first-year students into engineering in the spring. There is a prescribed sequence of courses for engineering students and it starts with some one-year courses. They may not let first-years in mid-year.

If you are graduating high school in Spring 09, shouldn't you be applying for entrance in Fall 09?

^what are you talking about? I have never heard of a 1 year course to date.

I was thinking like Math 408C in the fall and 408D in the spring.

You can take 408C in the Spring if you want....

I'm graduating in Jan. '09

I went to UT during Spring Break earlier this year. There's some colleges at UT that accept during the spring, which is why I applied to the College of Engineering. As for Math 408C, since I received a 4 on my AP Calculus exam, I believe I'd already be getting credit for that, so I'll be taking M408D.

Accepted! And I got into the College of Engineering! Can't wait to go to UT in January! Too bad my girlfriend isn't going with me (xx3nessa3xx) :(

Congrats!

If you don't mind, I have a follow-up on my son's behalf. My son's stats are quite similar (SATs will be about 100 points better and more leadership, like Eagle Scout), but he's in-state. Is he more likely to get in being in-state, or less likely? Yes, he's Hispanic. Not band, but will have played varsity sports all four years.

Congratulations! High School graduation in December at UT Engineering in January. Wow!!!

Ha ha...yeah I didn't get in. But, I am going to college in the spring! East Carolina University! I'll miss you Itokazu! aka boyfriend =[
