Looks pretty good, but nobody is a lock at ND. Your EC's look good but you lack a major hook. What makes you stand out above everyone else in the applicant pool? Maybe I'm just being a nitpick, but I'd say you have a pretty good shot.

Good luck!

Thanks for your reply.

I know i need a "hook" but ive travelled to Haiti on a mission trip. Is something like that good?

I have two sons. Both applied to Notre Dame. My oldest had stats a tick above yours and wrote an outstanding essay; he was admitted in the Regular Decision round in 2006. My second son had stats very close to yours, and he was rejected in the Regular Decision round in 2007.

If you have the time (are you applying this year or next?), I'd recommend retaking the ACT. If you can nudge that up past 33 composite, it would help. An original and well developed essay will make a big difference. But by all means, apply.

I will be applying next year as I am a junior right now. I will be retaking the act but Im not sure about the sat. I also have another question: does the gpa or the test scores affect my chances more? Probably a difficult question but I am curious if there is an answer.

Retaking the ACT is a good idea. I'd even suggest retaking it twice, if needed.

I think GPA matters, though I think class rank is even more important. You mentioned that your school does not rank, but Notre Dame will ask your counselor to estimate a rank. Talking with them about that point may be helpful to you.

Standardized scores are not the only consideration, but they are important, especially if you apply EA. IIRC, the average ACT for admitted EA applicants last year was 33.

Good luck!

Thanks so muh for your reply. It helps me an awful lot. Sorry, but one more question. Ok, i have a fellow student whos UW GPA is 3.5 and weighed 4.0, does this affect his chances of attending ND? His ACT is above a 32 if that helps. Thanks again.
