Chances?

Hello! Tufts is one of my top choices for college, I was wondering if you guys think I have a good chance? I'm applying as an art major.

I am a Caucasian female from Massachusetts (I heard that significantly decreases my chances) and I am from a competitive high school in the suburbs

GPA: 4.173 weighted, don't know unweighted.
SAT: 2090 (640 Critical Reading, 700 Math, 750 Writing) I am taking them again in December
SAT II: 620 Math I, 700 American History

I have taken all Honors and AP's since freshman year, except when they have not been offered. Last year I took AP English Language and AP American History. This year I am taking AP English Literature, AP French Language, AP Psychology, and AP Art. I have taken year long art classes since freshman year.

EC's: National Art Honors Society since sophomore year, I was vice president last year (there are no officers this year). I am part of National Honors Society this year as well as Excelsior (a student-run art and literature magazine at our school. I have also contributed art to it). I've been involved with theater behind the scenes (except last year, I'm continuing this year). I play piano (and compose sometimes) and I have played numerous times at events for the school. I have also taken many art classes at the local museum. My art has been selected for various exhibits.

I have won a postcard contest in my town (exciting!) and also our school's Black History Month art competition.

Though I haven't had a job, I have been volunteering with a foundation involved in raising money towards cancer research in children for three years and have contributed art for the auction 8th, 9th, and 10th grade. My family has personal ties to this foundation and cause.

Soo, how do you think that looks? :)

I don't know that being a Caucasian female from MA decreases your chances, but your test scores will not help much. The Math SAT score is fine, but the CR is sub-par, as is your Math SATII score. What scores did you get last year on the AP English and USHistory tests?

4 on English Language, 3 on American History :\ unfortunately

Then I would say it is a question of how impressed they are with your artistic ability/potential. Your grades are obviously fine, but your scores won't impress them. If you are a real talent, lead with your strength, and make sure your recommendations and essay tell a consistent story.

thanks for the advice! :)
