Schools: Really really really want to go to Stanford, but I've kinda resigned myself to the fact that I'm not getting in. In addition, am applying to Harvard, Brown, Columbia, Dartmouth, Georgetown, Vanderbilt, BC, UNC Chapel Hill, Duke, and UVM as safety.

Thoughts??? Any input is appreciated :)

Your stats are good but Stanford, Harvard, Brown, Columbia, Dartmouth are still going to be reaches. Your scores and GPA only make you average in their pool of applicants so you gotta stand out in your essay. Even Duke is pretty selective in terms of SAT scores. I'd say you definitely have a good shot at Georgetown, Vanderbilt, BC, and UNC CH. I wouldn't be surprised if you got into some of those ivies but your essays gotta be good.

thanks. yeah, that's what I figured. anyone else?

Well you're SAT scores aren't average, they're outstanding. Writing doesn't matter as much so don't worry about not getting an 800.

You're GPA is relatively low but you've taken the toughest classes, they'll see that.

Like nooob said, write amazing essays and you'll get in to a bunch of places, maybe even Stanford.

Dhunt, I actually think you have quite a shot at Stanford and some of the other Ivies. They might not be definites at all, but you definitely have a shot I would say.
