Chances?

I posted this thread on Dartmouth forum before. Chance me for Cornell, Dartmouth, and UPenn.

Korean male attending competitive public high school that sends at about 20 kids to ivy caliber schools each year.

Planning to retake ACT and SAT on December. December scores are accepted by Dartmouth right?

Academic gpa

Weighted: 4.55 (without PE grades)
Unweighted: 3.85 (without PE grades)
upward trend in grades
Rank: top 8% of graduating class. Is my rank too low? I could have been in top 3% if it wasn't for my PE grades.

Extracurriculars

Popping/Hip hop dance for 4 years. Performed at kollaboration 2007. (pretty good at this, I dedicate a lot of my time to dancing)

Work at my dad's computer shop. (My dad operates the shop by himself so I have to help out. ~20 hours a week for about two years now)

Peer tutor in school (I use my lunch time to tutor kids in math/science)

Mu Alpha Theta president (national math club organization, will hold my position)

Korean Club VP junior year. President this year.

Teaching and helping "mentally" disabled kids at a local elementary school. (I can do this only during summer/winter/spring breaks since those are the only times where my school time doesn't coincide with the elementary school times)

Tennis (private lessons but not competitive and not that good either) - 3 years

Piano (pretty good) - passed level 9 CM test

I am involved in various other environmental activities (like beach clean ups, planting tress, etc.) during the weekends.

Misc

Recs will be stellar

above average essays

First generation to go to college

very tough courseload

Prospective econ major

Cornell does accept December SAT and ACT scores right? Will my scores arrive in time if I send it right after I take the tests?

good chances

Thanks but anything else I need to work on? Any criticisms?

dude. its not that selective of a school. your extra EC aren't impressive though. not terrible either... just not anything to make you stand out from the crowd.

i think if you got your CR score above 700 that would help your chances alot..but other than that i think you are well qualified

yeah CR is the main reason why I am retaking SAT. And the 2160 is from a single setting. Also I was wondering whether Cornell and other ivies will get my December scores in time? I don't have to expedite my scores right?

I think it's funny that you have great reading/english scores, but a 7 on ACT essay.

You have great chances for Cornell, dunno about UPenn

why is Upenn constantly compared with Cornell?
Anyways I don't like chances but thought I'd join in on one. you have above average scores. I'd say average chance at least.

Since all these chances are is some sort of arbitrary formula... well here you go Academic Index Calculator - Ivy League
If you'd like to compare yourself with some really impressive students then collegedata.com also works

But somehow a lot of students with gpas far lower than yours (and mine) get into a lot of top schools. Otherwise the average would be like 3.96. So I'm assuming other things play in.

My gpa is brought down by the seven electives and 6/7tutoring classes I've taken through high school. And a few non-honors classes. But I don't think they'll recalibrate for either of us :P. I probably had enough credits to graduate last year lol.

Oh never knew such calculator existed, thanks obesechicken.

Yeah I had enough credits to graduate last year. And I will be in junior/senior standing (in terms of units) by the time I enroll in college.
