- Helped in starting a student-run music program in response to budget cuts that eliminated band programs in our local school district; one of the most active volunteers, served as theory instructor and flute instructor, coordinator this year
- Tutor in after school sessions, all math subjects
- Various other smaller community service projects and more short-term activities, probably not important</p>

its hard to predict any college acceptances these days, but if u write a good essay, u should be fine.</p>

<p>Provided you have good essays, you're pretty much in. Your only job now is to make sure you write some great essays and show Rice that you're both A) An interesting person who will contribute to Rice's community in other ways than just by being an academic beast, and B) very interested and serious about coming to Rice, and not just applying to Rice as a backup in case you don't get into an Ivy.</p>

<p>But seriously, based on your stats you have a great shot and I'd be very surprised if you didn't get in. There may even be merit scholarship money coming your way, but these things are a crapshot so I wouldn't count on it.</p>

<p>You should be in, assuming you don't come off as arrogant in your essay or appear to be disinterested, as if you're using Rice as an Ivy safety school.</p>

<p>Haha, how exactly does someone make an essay come off as arrogant anyway? But I don't think I need to worry about that ..I did some pretty solid research on Rice, and it's definitely not a backup.</p>
