Chances

Hey everyone, i was just wondering what my chances were on getting admitted to Yale with the following Stats:

I have no legacy and will not be recruited as an athlete. My high school is moderately sized (375 senior class) in a small rural community in the grand state of Ohio. We have not had an Ivy attended since the 1970’s.

My Common App has the following stats:

Honors:

Rotary Youth Leadership Award 2. Boy’s State 3. National Forensic League Degree of Special Distinction 4. AP Scholar 5. National Honor Society

Activities: 1. Debate/ Speech (International Extemp and Student Congress, team Captain, Varsity Letters, State Quarter-finalist). 2. Theatre/ Drama (Children Show and Musical, Student Director, Thespian) 3. Model UN (Council VP, Outstanding Delegate) 4. Varsity Tennis 5. Academic Challenge Team (Captain) 6. Hospital Volunteer 7. Student Council (Treasurer).

Work Experience includes Cashier/ Supervisor and Board of Elections Poll worker

My SAT I : Math 710, CR 670, W 800(11) SAT II : Biology (620), US History (670), Math II (750) My ACT was 32. AP’s : US Hist (4) US Gov’t (5) and Stats (5) I am taking 4 AP’s this year.

I am currently first in my class but after the first semester I will be second due to weighted grades ( I am taking all my schools AP classes except art which someone else is).

I will not have an interview.

My essays should be solid and my teacher recommendations will be amazing.

Mention the fact that you may see this person taking over your position..
You know, scratch that
There are alot of things and you have to bring out your background or else a SOLID essay wil not tell us anything. It is all in the essay

SAT CR needs to get bumped up to atleast around 700... why no interview? they help u

anyway... with that criteria, i did get in... i just was interested to see the responses I would get and to encourage others that scores are not everything... as for the interview, they are important, although in the short amount of time allowed for early action, i was not able to meet with the alumni interviewers... write a strong essay and let the admissions get a feel for who you are and virtually anyone has a chance.

PerryYale2013 is correct... for the Ivies, the essay is perhaps the most important aspect of your application because 80% of the applicants are about the same everywhere else...

Most schools aren't looking for SATs of 2400, they want students who will add to their creative communities (although a 2400 is a plus)...

Congrats!
