Chances

Alright...so I know that my stats are not as strong as some of the others that are posted on this website but I'd like opinions regardless.

Planning to apply to the engineering school for Chemical Engineering

GPA- 3.85 (unweighted, my school does not weight grades)
Public Highschool- top 10%
This year I am one of only 3 kids taking 5 AP classes (the most you can schedule with our school's schedule)

SATs-
From two test dates: Math 710, CR 690, Writing 680
Subject Tests (also from two test dates): Chemistry 740, Math I 730, Math II 730

AP Scores-
Language and Composition: 5
Chemistry: 4
US History: 4

Extra Curriculars-
There is a LONG list but I'll include the ones that take the majority of my time
Varsity Cross Country (11,12)
Varsity Track and Field (9,10,11,12)
Drama (10,11,12) 2 or 3 plays a year and I've had a leading role
Indoor Track (10,11,12)
Community Service about 200 hours (9,10,11,12)

Awards-
AP Scholar
Harvard Book Award
Of course high honor roll and that kind of thing

Other important info-
First Generation

Everyone has a chance, but yours seems slim. There is nothing appalling about your credentials

I don’t know, the fact that his/her school isn’t the most excellent around (“one of only 3 kids taking 5 AP classes”)–coupled with his/her first generation status–could get him/her accepted (so that Columbia can “diversify” its class).

I doubt it Epaminodas. matter of opinion though. my reasoning: low stats+average ECs+unhooked=…

I like the fact that you compiled a shortlist of important ECs. kudos for that.

ur essay is what matters the most
