Chances?!?

I'm from Arizona, I want to get into the engineering school for mechanical engineering, then hopefully aeronautics at a masters level.

13th best high school in nation in 2008, now we're 25, which makes me slightly sad. I dont really know if that counts for anything

gpa: 3.74UW/ 3.97W That's whats on my transcript, it actually went up to 3.79/4.12
SAT: 1440/2060
SAT II's: math 2: 790, physics 650 :(, us history 690
AP's: Comparative Politics 4, Physics B 4, US History 4, English Language 3
Currently taking AP: Calc BC, Physics C Mech and E&M, Micro/Macro Economics, English lit., French Language, Government

A lot of sports, soccer and volleyball main ones, state champion 2007 soccer, state runner up 2008 soccer, currently number one team in state and expected to win state title in soccer

EC's
-Cameroonian Youth Group, i actually helped found the group, we basically learn the heritage and culture that we come from in more depth.
-Soccer Referee
-I work as a child entertainer (aka put on scooby doo and cookie monster suits)
-Volunteer at a Behavioral Health group home
Sports takes up a lot of time, didnt really have time for other EC's

I visited Cornell, instantly became one of my top 5 schools, behind Caltech and Stanford and MIT. All these schools seem like reaches for me. Do i have a chance?

You have no EC's related to engineering. That's one thing I noticed Cornell pays attention to, it's whether or not you are interested in your major. Hopefully you conveyed how much you really want to go into engineering in your essay.

That's exactly what i tried to do in my essay. Hopefully i conveyed my interest in engineering as much as i could. I did put a physics project on my application. The project was to make cars more fuel efficient with hydrogen fuel cells and other ways to draw electricity. After the winter break tho, the teacher made it optional, so idk about that.

If you did a lot of sports, it's very important to mention that. Since sports do take up a lot of time, they look great on a resume. (meh, that sounded bland but you get my point)

Ya it looks like you have a good chance. For engineering they are a lot more lenient on scores but you have to show devotion to the major and mastery of math and science.
