Chances

Okay, so I admit I used to find these chance threads very annoying and it seemed like everyone posting just wanted acknowledgment of their amazingness and were fishing for compliments, but I am so sick of waiting that I'm wondering if someone could chance me for MAC......okay, here I go:

SAT I: 2200
GPA uw: 3.87
-I don't know rank, but I go to a competitive college prep school in St. Paul, Minnesota and have taken the most rigorous course load available and plan to take another math class this summer (which I noted in my "additional information" section).

Varsity sports:
Soccer - 4 years (all conference 3 years, captain senior year, top GPA on team - academic excellence award)
Basketball - 4 years (captain 2 years, all-conference 3 years, about 1,700 pts. in career - all-time leading scorer @ my school); I've spoken with the MAC coach and would play if I go to MAC.
Track -4 years, various awards, all-conference 2 years, hold 1600m record (but just for girls haha).

EC:
Math Club (club leader 11, 12)
Science Club (leader 11, 12)
MOSAIC Diversity Club (leader 11,12)
Environmental Club (Leader 11,12)
Amnesty International
Tutors' Guild

300+ hours of community service (including service trips to Mexico and Tanzania, wrote about Tanzania for CommonApp essay)
-various projects on my reservation; raise money and awareness at my school

Jobs:
US Soccer certified referee - grade 8 (since 10th grade)
job at German Christmas store since beginning of 11th grade

Essays:
I really liked all of them. As I said, main one is about what I learned in Tanzania.
I liked my Why MAC? one as well. <--if you'd like to read and "analyze" them, please PM me!

Other Factors:
American Indian and quite involved with my tribe. My admissions officer knows this and is seemed quite interested in this.

Chance me for these schools as well (if you want to):
-Washington University in St. Louis
-Duke
-Northwestern
-Vanderbilt
-Stanford(!).

Stanford and WU are my top choices for sure. Also, do you think I have any chances at getting invites to any of these schools "multicultural weekends" or a likely letter? I dunno.....any input is appreciated! Wado!!

What do you guys think? And, honestly, I am not trying to fish for compliments, I'm just very anxious! Thanks for reading this and good luck to all!!

i think you have really good chances. the fact that you've been involved in 3 sports for 4 years each (and the fact that you seem to be really good at all of them!) shows a lot of commitment and since you've maintained a high gpa, it seems like your really good at balancing everything. it might seem a little shady that all your club involvement started junior year, but all of the community service and having jobs definitely makes up for it. your scores are very close to mine and i just got in so that shouldn't be any problem. and the fact that your american indian helps a ton i'm sure. let me tell you, it sucks to be white when you're applying to college lol

Okay, thanks! But, let me clarify, I've been involved in these clubs all four years, I've been leader 11, 12. Sorry, that does come across as kind of shady (how I put it)! haha.

Umm....you definitely have a good chance at macalester.

I just got in, and my stats, sports, and clubs are similar to yours (although i'm in less clubs and only 2 sports for 4 years), and you have about 100 more hours of community service than me.

I'd LIKE to say you have a good shot at WashU, but that's only because i also applied there and you look better than me :). But i do actually think we're both at least competetive to get in. Stanford is obviously a HUGE reach for anyone, but you could get in....and i have no idea about the rest, as i'm not really interested in them and therefore haven't read much about them...

Thanks! Are you from the Twin Cities?

not at all. I live in northern california (not like the california you see on TV)

Lol okay. Ah, I want to go to Stanford so badly, it's so picturesque.....are you from very northern california or more the bay area? I've been to Oregon and Washington but not N. California (hopefully I'll be in San Francisco come next year!)......

I live in the Sierra Nevada Foothills, like 150 miles ish northeast of San Francisco. So the weather is nothing like that, either, haha.

And i totally agree with you about Stanford, it's absolutely gorgeous. I've competed in a few CC and track meets there and i absolutely loved it....but unfortunately i didn't really see the school as a good fit for me.

Okay, cool Razalman......yeah, I've unfortunately not visited Stanford, but everything about it just seems so perfect for me......lol, I suppose I'll have to decide by going to Admit Weekend (assuming I get in, which is definitely not known as of now).......

Ok, your chances are too good, i don’t want to have to apply alongside you!
