Chances...

Okay, so I admit I used to find these chance threads very annoying and it seemed like everyone posting just wanted acknowledgment of their amazingness and were fishing for compliments, but I am so sick of waiting that I'm wondering if someone could chance me for Vanderbilt......okay, here I go:

SAT I: 2200
GPA uw: 3.87
-I don't know rank, but I go to a competitive college prep school in St. Paul, Minnesota and have taken the most rigorous course load available and plan to take another math class this summer (which I noted in my "additional information" section).

Varsity sports:
Soccer - 4 years (all conference 3 years, captain senior year, top GPA on team/academic excellence award)
Basketball - 4 years (captain 2 years, all-conference 3 years, about 1,700 pts. in career - all-time leading scorer @ my school)
Track -4 years, various awards, all-conference 2 years, hold 1600m record (but just for girls haha).

EC:
Math Club (club leader 11, 12)
Science Club (leader 11, 12)
MOSAIC Diversity Club (leader 11,12)
Environmental Club (Leader 11,12)
Amnesty International
Tutors' Guild

300+ hours of community service (including service trips to Mexico and Tanzania, wrote about Tanzania for CommonApp essay)
-various projects on my reservation; raise money and awareness at my school

Jobs:
US Soccer certified referee - grade 8 (since 10th grade)
job at German Christmas store since beginning of 11th grade

Essays:
I really liked my main CommonApp essay (pity Vandy didn't have a supplementary essay). As I said, I talked about things that I learned in Tanzania....if you'd like to read it and give feedback, PM me!

Recs:
I know all three very well and I was even called by an admissions rep (for a school to which I've been accepted) and told that they were "fantastic".

Other Factors:
American Indian and quite involved with my tribe. I'm an enrolled member of my tribe and have spoken with a Vandy rep about documentation (which they didn't want), but he seemed happy that I inquired......I genuinely would want to continue ties with my heritage as I go off to college. I didn't get a MOSAIC invite because my application was, apparently, just completed (confusion that, again, I spoke with my officer about).

Chance me for these schools as well (if you want to):
-Washington University in St. Louis
-Duke
-Northwestern
-Stanford

Also, do you think I have any chances at getting invites to any of these schools "multicultural weekends" or a likely letter? I dunno.....any input is appreciated! Wado!

What do you guys think? And, honestly, I am not trying to fish for compliments, I'm just very anxious! Thanks for reading this and good luck to all!!!

No opinions from Vandy applicants/students?

The latest post in the VU Admissions Blog is about letting it go at this point and waiting to see where the chips will fall, so to speak. I know that is tough advice, but it is good advice.
I've seen lots of your posts in the forum, so I know you are very interested in Vandy - good luck to you!

Very true, thanks for the words 2VU0609!

Unless there is something heinously wrong with your application that you have failed to mention (i.e. DUI, drug offense, your SOP wasn't as good as you thought it was, F on transcript, 1's on all AP tests), then I would not be surprised to see you here in the fall.

(I just realized I compared a bad SOP to a DUI..... clearly not what I meant haha.)

Okay, thanks for the input GCN2, I hope you are right, although I'm trying to listen to the blog's post and settle down and wait.....but, I have to ask, what does "SOP" mean? My SOP wasn't as good as I thought it was?

(SOP) Statement of Purpose. Personal essay, etc.

i was scared enough to apply to vandy....and now i see kids like you scared about their chances? oh god.

Everyone seems to be scared.

I wonder if this happened last year.

I'm not trying to jinx you, but I would say you're in.
