Chances????

Hey, I’m a HS junior just looking at my college options… here are my stats (Including next year)

GPA: Non weighted: 3.1
Weighted; 3.7 (about 12 honors, 4 AP)

(Note: my gpa freshman year was about a 2.6, sophomore year about a 3.4 and jr year about a 3.5. I have taken more credits than needed in almost every subject, however i only completed 1.5 years of spanish and 2 years of sign language)

Psat 600 math
570 Reading
490 Writing

Planning on getting between 1800-2100 on sat.

Taking the ACT in April

I’m really involved with my school.

I have been class president for the past 3 year, and plan to do a 4th year, next year.

Clubs im in:

-Young democrats (vice president)
-STAND (its a club to raise awarness about the geneside in Darfur)
-Persian Club
-AIDS peer educating group
-Homecomming/Prom commettie
-Track (indoor & out door)

Outside of school, i have worked at a quiznos for 2 years, and now work for a child abuse clinic. I have also volunteered for a few political campains.

I’m from Montgomry County, Maryland. I go to a public school. MoCo is sopposed to be one of the best public school education systems in the country.

you’re in. 95% acceptance rate

You’re likely in, but do apply early. The state schools are getting slammed with applications, and that will probably be the case next year as well.

thank! is there a honors college?.. do i have a chance there

Barrett Honors College is good. Apply as soon as you get in to asu, and send 2-5 letters of recommendation. Get your planned SAT score, and you should have no big-time problem getting in (ASU does things by the numbers, mostly: though out-of-state is a bit harder than in-state for barrett. still and all, not worth stressing over).

THanks so much…

I have kind of a random question regarding Arizona in general…

Are the people from Arizona southern? Like in the south east people generally act and talk like you’d expect farmers to. I’m not saying its a bad thing, im just curious.

Also how is ASU’s standing with the community? If i decide to move down there, will saying im from ASU help or hurt my chances of getting a job?

Arizona is a big mixture of people, everyone is pretty normal. We speak normally. The name ASU in Phoenix is good, great opportunities. Ask me any other questions about zona if you like!

what are scolarships like for oos

Pretty good, especially if you are a Merit finalist.

danm… to bad I’m not… are there alot of communters to the school?

what do kids do on weekends?

How are the dorms?

Also i know you are from Arizona, but do you know how expensive plan tickets are from the north east?

Would i fly into phoenix?

I know its hot but how hot… like a normal summer day is? and normal winter day?

yea i think a lot of commuters to go to ASU compared to University of Arizona. ASU is consistantly ranked on the top party schools list. so on weekends students consume large amounts of alcohol. (like every other school and what i plan on doing this coming fall)
dorms are alright from what i saw when i visited last may

yea ud fly to phx. in the summer its 120 during day in winter its like 85 during day.

im trying to decide between ASU nd UA…ne1 god ne ideas. ive been admitted to both and im majoring in political science

dam tough decisions!!!

stay in Maryland. UMDCP is an excellent school and you get instate tuition. it is much better regarded than asu.

andballer answered your questions correctly…the heat is so intense in phoenix. If you’re worried about reputation, try to get into Barrett Honors College.

cant get into umd… :-(
