Dear verabradley : From the post earlier, you are only a sophomore and have so many high school courses (and AP exams) to take before you are ready for a straight up comparison to BC’s standards! That said, a few pieces of advice for you. An ACT score (as predicted by the PLAN) of 28-30 is by no means a lock for BC. We have seen most posters over the last two years in the 28-29 range receive rejections. It seems like an ACT of 30 is really the floor on acceptances - again, not a hard and fast rule, just an observation.

Your resume is missing High School activities : arts/music experience, sports exposure/teams, honor societies. You do include service components which are recommended highly for a BC application.

While your school might not rank, BC will attempt to reverse engineer your school’s academic profiles - which means that your GPA will need to translate into a top 10% performance overall. GPA and class rank seem to have increased in the acceptance process over the last couple of years for those who have followed these BC threads.

You should also be taking the SAT just in case that exam results in a better profile for you than the ACT exam.

On curriculum, I would highly recommend steering away from AP Stats and take AP Calc as it receives much more respect (and credit) for entering freshmen. Not sure that AP Psych would be a better choice than an AP Economics course, but this might be a course restriction at your school.

Lastly, remember that the pure numbers continue to push up the entrance criteria as time marches forward. Focus on your own work and let the pieces fall into place over the next 18 months. You will be in a better position at that point to ask your “BC Chances” questions.

thanks so much for your advice, especially regarding the future classes i plan to take. I will definitely think about stats vs. calc and psych vs. economics as it gets closer, and will talk with my counselor about these options.
in terms of high school activites, i am in the highest chorus available for sophomores, and expect to stay with chorus through my senior year. i dont do in school sports because of my time committment to dance outside of school, but i am the service coordinator for our dance club at school.
your advice/ideas are exactly what i was looking for. thanks for the help
