chances

im a sophomore from NJ, and getting pretty nervous about college.

UW GPA: 90/100
W GPA- 95/100
im in the most rigorous classes possible, with a few APS, and Latin as my foreign language.

my school doesnt use 4.0 scale. i also dont know my rank yet, but definitely in top 20% at least. probably closer to top 10% out of around 500

EC's:
Model United Nations- won a few awards
Mock Trial- starting role each year, will definitely be Captain senior year. this year we won my county championship, and made it very far in the state competition.
FBLA- will definitely make state competition next year
Junior Classical League (Latin Club)- raised money for Rome/Athens trip. will be officer senior year, if not junior year
Jewish American Cultural Club- maybe officer senior year
probably NHS next year
i would like to find a club at my school, maybe a young democrats or something like that. how much will that help my chances?

i play baseball and basketball competitively outside of school
i also umpire little league
im also a member of a jewish youth group. im currently in charge of Judaic programming/social action on my chapter's board. i will probably be elected vice president later this year. next year, i will either be president of the chapter or have a regional board position

many of the clubs i am involved in dont have elected officer positions

I will be volunteering soon as a "jr court appointed special advocated for children". i basically will helping out with the advocating of underprivileged children at family courts. i will also most likely volunteer at a nearby hospital this summer and next school year.

i have not taken the sats yet, but let's assume a score a 1900-2100.

Here are the schoools i am internested in:

Rutgers- safety
Drexel
Muhlenberg
Lehigh
Pitt
Franklin and Marshall
Colgate
Syracuse
U of Richmond
Wake Forest- probably my ED school
Elon
UNC CH
University of Delaware
U of Maryland

also, for the southern schools that dont have much diversity, will my religion help at all?

thanks a lot

anyone???

Edit:forgot to add:

I’m also a member of the World Affairs Club and was selected to the club’s steering committee

You’re in to UM if you stay on track, Syracuse, Colgate, U Delaware. Most of the others I’m unfamiliar with so can’t say. UNC- CH is a toss up, they’re extremely competitive to get into.

WOW

i’d rate you, but i have become unfamiliar with the colleges mentioned above
however, i wish you the best of luck with your high school ventures

anyone else?

Not sure about the majority of those, but I’m leaning towards a “yes” for UNC-CH. Assuming you get an SAT in that hypothetical range, that coupled with your seemingly solid set of extracurriculars looks nice. I don’t get the whole GPA think, as I’m used to the 4.0 system, but that looks like the biggest area that you need to improve.

I’m not familiar with WF’s admission rates, but I would guess they are around the same as UNC-CH.

Good luck!

thanks
anyone else?

I think that if you apply ED to Wake Forest you have a decent chance. Colgate would probably be your reach school because it is rather competitive. It is pretty cool that you have latin as a foreign language, so I think you should take a national exam for it to gain recognition!
