bumpity ump.

You are not an elite applicant---hate to say it. Consider early decision.

mmm, you sound very impressive. But I don't think you can put on your resume things like "only 3% got in and I was one of them." So without the stats, the ECs sound pretty average. But it's not bad either. You may want to raise your ACT or get an SAT score of around the equivalent of a 1400 since that was the average for this year and it may very well go higher next year. good luck! you have a shot in my opinion.

a couple of people here have mentioned early decision as an option, but make sure you ABSOLUTELY want to go to barnard (or whichever school) that you apply early decision to because it is binding

so if you need financial aid, id avoid applying early because you cant compare financial aid packages

Good advice. You can be absolutely screwed on Financial Aid if you apply ED and need it. You may not be but you can be.

if barnard is your definite top choice, then i'd also say go for early decision.

i think the competition just keeps on getting harder and harder each year... (not just at barnard but all colleges).

you do have a good chance though... write solid essays !

Hard to say. Your numbers aren't amazing, about middle of the pack, but I could see this being one of those cases where great essays make a difference (like most applicants, I guess).

What do you want to do at Barnard? It seems like you have the standard ECs, but one or two you really care about and have played big roles in, and if you can convey that dedication to what you want to do, and your desire to be active and take a role when you see something you want done, I'd want you at MY college.

Compared to some other colleges, it seems Barnard's ED admissions advantage is not that strong. They said that also at an info session last spring--or have some of you had a different experience?

lol hilovepie I remember reading about you in my American Girl magazine!

that was me! I was also on the Rosie O'donnel show for it if you saw that.
